Opinion: Is OCR in a Bidding War?

It is no secret obstacle course racing has blasted onto the international sporting scene in the last decade. The most recent push has been to legitimize obstacle course racing into an Olympic sport. While opinions vary, OCR is headed there. Over the last couple of months, an "arms race" for OCR seems to be brewing.

USA OCR National Governing Body Announced by International Obstacle Sports Federation

Today International Obstacle Sports Federation (OSF) announced the creation of USA Obstacle Course Racing. The OSF has recognized the USAOCR as the official governing body for the United States. In addition to the announcement of the creation of the USAOCR it is also announced that the first OCR US National Championship sanctioned by OSF will take place at the Spartan Race on April 30th at Amelia Earhard Park.

Obstacle Racing Could Be One Step Closer to Olympics

Last week, obstacle racing took one step closer to becoming an Olympic sport in the future. The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM), the national federation for Modern Pentathlon announced that the board voted to add obstacle racing into the lazer-run event possibly as soon as the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
