In Italy you can run through Inferno, the most diabolical Italian OCR in three stages

It’s one of the sporting events that are increasingly exciting Italian people and also in 2019 confirms its three wonderful stages, in Piedmont, Lombardy and Tuscany. From January 19th will start the first and most popular OCR Italian Series, Inferno Run.

From the snowy Maritime Alps, through the sea of Milan, up to the Chianti hills, Inferno Run will be a challenge especially with yourself. Everyone can test his own skills running on different distances and courses and discovering Italian beauties. Strength, speed, balance, agility and resistance is what you need to overcome natural and manmade obstacles along the course in the fascinating cities of Prato Nevoso (Cuneo), Milan and Figline Valdarno (Florence). In the last stage will be crowned the best Devils of 2019 (female, male and team).

 

“Our Tuscan origins and the Dante’s culture inspired us in 2014 in the choice of the race name – says the organizer Niccolò Nava – We imagined a special Dante’s Inferno, so our natural and made obstacles have names such as Lucifer, Giuda Iscariota, Conte Ugolino and Cocito. The OCR are a metaphor for life that sometimes can be a little bit infernal! Outdoor sports and lot of fun in beautiful locations are our secrets. It will be a 2019 full of news, like the first Italian water edition at the Idroscalo of Milan, new challenging obstacles for the OCR addicted and the qualifications to the OCR Series by Strong Viking. Always with the aim of pushing as many people to test and face their own limits, rediscovering smiles and determination. Among the rounded 43.000 people who ran the OCR all over Italy in 2018, there are not only athletes but also sports enthusiasts and curious, of all ages, who wanted to live and share the emotions of this experience, most of them in teams”.

INFERNO SNOW

Saturday 19 January Inferno Snow will open the Italian OCR season. It will always start in the snow, from the Prato Nevoso Ski Area in the province of Cuneo, at 1500 m asl. In the landscape of the Maritime Alps, the snow and the ice will be the absolute protagonists not only along the 7 km distance, with a total height difference of 200 m. After the new start uphill from the center of the resort, there will be 20 obstacles to overcome, such as an ice ramp and some snow walls to climb, but also weights to transport, crawling in the snow and much more. For the competitive athletes the race will be valid for the Regional Championship of the FIOCR-Italian OCR Federation and qualifying for the OCR World Championships. As per today the registrations are doubled compared to last year, and counting!

INFERNO CITY

For the second stage is confirmed the appointment on Sunday 5 May at the Idroscalo of Milan with Inferno City. Thanks to the partnership with Gruppo CAP, the integrated water service operator of the Metropolitan City of Milan, the event will become an unforgettable water edition, the first in Italy. The 8 km race will lead athletes to cross the rediscovered temple of outdoor sports and to swim into its waters, facing 25 obstacles.

INFERNO MUD

The great final will be on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October in Tuscany, in Figline Valdarno, just outside Florence, with Inferno Mud. Between vineyards, country woods, and hills, the Norcenni Girasole Village will host the traditional 12 km muddy edition with over 30 obstacles. Inferno City and Mud are stages of the Italian OCR Championship, qualifying for the European and World Championships. The first 3 athletes (woman and man) of each Inferno race are qualified for the OCR Series finals to be held in June 2019. In addition, the first 10 (women and men) of the Inferno Series 2018 will also be qualified for the finals of June 2019.

INFERNO KIDS

The little mudders from 4 to 12 years will be involved with Inferno Kids, which supports with its own proceeds solidarity projects for children and young people. In Florence it will be possible to participate on Sunday 6 October at the Short Course (4 km and 20 obstacles), open from 13 years of age, who can gain access to the World Championships.
