Join the Battle! The Highlander Assault Obstacle Series is a Highlander themed grueling but fun event. Featuring a 4 mile 20 obstacle option, an 8 mile 27 obstacle option, or if you are thirsty for more do both courses for a total of 12 miles and 47 obstacles to become a member of the Highlander Elite Black Watch. Black Watch 12 mile racers will receive a bonus Black Watch medallion!
The Highlander Assault event will also feature the Highlander Village where you can hang out before and after the race enjoying D.J. music services, contests, several gourmet food vendors, beer, and sponsor give aways. Don't forget to take your picture with one of several Highlander Warriors in full garb walking the grounds.. Come join the battle and defeat the oppresive King's army, conquering the King's obstacle onslaught and raising the Highlander Flag to glory! Oh and if you are up for the challenge, don't forget your kilts!

Great OCR
Great local obstacle course race. Well put together. Organized. Top notch obstacles by Race Ready Obstacles. Challenging obstacles, mixed with easy, mixed with not so challenging.
I ran the elite wave at the end of the night. The only issue at that time was with the timing system.The race was kept track of for podium spot (prize) winners.
Great fun
Very well put together, no waiting on the obstacles, great idea of racing in the dark. I had a concern that I was going to go of course at times, but everything was marked well, had no issues. Obstacles were a little on the easy side. Great looking finishers medal!
Haven't missed a Dark Ages race and don't plan to. Always enjoy the "Night Life" put on my the Highlander Assault family. Looking forward to the "daytime" one come October. Come on out, you won't be dissappointed!
OCR in the dark!! One of a kind! Love this event! Amazing community of people that come together. The terrain is just the right amount of challenge and surprise. The placement of obstacles is very well thought-out. Looking forward to running this race again and again. Don’t think twice, try it and I guarantee you’ll be hooked!
Fantastic OCR Event!
3rd Dark Ages race I've done and each year has been a great and well organized event! Super fun. A super well laid out course with excellent and numerous obstacles. A total blast start to finish. Challenging and enjoyable! These guys know how to put together a fantastic race event!

Such an outstanding event! Taking place at night gives a whole new spin on an OCR race. Drove in from Kansas City to experience this. Great obstacles, great atmosphere and bagpipes! Do it!
Top Class
What a great event! From the servicemen that organise it to the sponsors that sponsor it. The obstacles are challenging. There are several heats for all ages and levels. It has a great atmosphere and I look forward to the Highlander Assault in October. I wouldnt miss these events for anything.
Top Notch OCR
OCR is always fun during the day, but you have to experience a night time race! With high quality obstacles, a bagpiper setting the tone by the festival bonfire, and plenty of encouragement this is a perfect race for first timers all the way to seasoned vets. Put this race on your bucket list!
EPIC!
One of the best if not THE BEST OCR there is. Especially being done at night make it beyond epic. The hubby and I make the 8hr drive from KCMO to attend because we know it is built and put on by the best! If you haven’t attended a Highlander Assault race WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! DO IT!!!!
Top Notch. We had a blast. The course was well marked and obstacles were well built. 10/10 recommend. Can't wait for the next one
