The United States is slowly picking up steam for the 2016 season as most of the country is still is the grips of old man winter. Over the weekend, two events took place in the US. BattleFrog Series dominated the west coast with its race outside of San Fransisco in the heart of wine country. Green Beret Challenge took on the urban environment over the weekend in Perry, Georgia with the Green Beret Challenge Urban Rescue.
The Green Beret Challenge is not a traditional Obstacle Course Race and surely not a Mud Run. If you’re looking for a bubble foam-fest color run, keep on looking. This is a true endurance test of your fitness, mental toughness, and ability to adapt in order to conquer the challenges as they are laid out before you.
“Are you ready for the suck?” was a question posed almost half a dozen times to me within the first 30 minutes of arriving to the venue at Fort Yargo State Park in North Georgia. As a solid obstacle racer I was thinking “yeah, yeah, I've heard this phrase all too often lately” but I must admit I was in for a rude awakening! The Special Ops Series Green Beret Challenge was an endurance event to test both the physical and mental strength of even the strongest competitors.
