The Scandanavian obstacle race series, Toughest, recently headed to The Netherlands for the first time over the weekend. The popular series is known for challenging and fun obstacles and continues to bring top athletes to each event. The race crammed 40 obstacles in a short 8 km course near the capital Amsterdam.
This year has been exciting for the endurance OCR community with the expansion of BFX, the first BFX24, the promotion of Spartan Endurance, the beginning of the Spartan Agoge, and now Tough Mudder’s new event type that was just announced: Toughest! (Not to be confused with the European Obstacle Race Series) So what is this new thing and when can you get involved? Well, that’s what I’m here for.
Happy Monday everyone! I hope y’all rested up well last week and enjoyed your time with family, because this weekend there was NO shortage of events to choose from, and the results pages looked like a roster of all the competitive OCR athletes we know. In other words, the competition was fierce, the races were out in full force and we proved there is plenty of something for everyone. It was an incredible weekend to be inspired by what we do and love, and get our mud on!
Arnel Banawa of OCRTUBE is spending the rest of the spring and early summer in Europe along the way capturing all the action that they European obstacle race series have to offer. Last weekend he was in Malmo, Sweden for the latest Toughest Race. Toughest is a European obstacle race company that has quickly become a European staple. Their obstacle Dragons Back was a favorite at the OCR World Championships in 2015.
The famed Scandanavian obstacle series TOUGHEST headed to the United Kingdom for the first time over the weekend. OCRTUBE's Arnel Banawa took the trek across the pond to cover all the action including insights from OCR World Champion Jon Albon. The course offered over 40 obstacles on the 8K course set on rolling hills of the United Kingdom. Watch this heart pounding fast action video recap from OCRTUBE.
Love them or hate them...The Rig is here to stay. For some that's a joy (we all probably know one of them), for others it's a gut-check challenge. For many, it's a band-stealing, soul-crushing, sleepless-nights demon! But it doesn't have to be that way. And this has nothing to do with the positive thinking and perseverance of the athlete.
WTM is the Vatican City of The Community, the gathering place where people shed their regular existences to express their extraordinary resolve. 1200 runners toe the line in Las Vegas, where our head deacon, Sean Corvelle, provides us with a little more insight into ourselves we haven’t thought of.
The Lake Las Vegas WTM course is pretty similar to the landscape from a particular movie from my childhood - the desert of Tatooine. It's actually quite remarkable how the "resort section" of Lake Las Vegas has lush green colf courses replete with water fountains, finely manicured lawns wrapping the easments from hotel to hotel. As soon as you reach the cul-de-sac at the top of the hill and enter Tough Mudder land there's a dramatic shift in scenery
On October 17, 2015, the best obstacle racers in the world came together to battle it out in Oregonia, OH, USA at the premiere event in OCR. The nearly 10 mile course was littered with obstacles of all shapes and sizes, some natural and many man-made; sure to test the mettle of even the most resolute and talented athlete.
Over the weekend, athletes were getting their final races in before the championship season. With races happening all around the world this past weekend we highlight, Savage Race, Spartan Race, Toughest and XMan obstacle course race this week.
