Get ready to get FILTHY clean with 5k Foam Fest!
What in the world could possibly be more fun than running through a course chuck full of mud, foam, and obstacles? Running through it with your friends, of course! Check out our video to see how much fun you can have together! Well, you’ll need bodies. So grab your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family members and get them registered! Your team can be as big as you want. And remember, the only way to make sure you all get to run in the same wave is to register early and together, so don’t wait! Otherwise we can’t guarantee that you’ll be flying around in foam with your friends.
If you are looking to beat a world record or run so hard that you nearly lose bowel control then you might be disappointed. The 5K Foam Fest is not a hardcore race it is a FUNCORE race. The goal is to have fun while running. We will have a race clock at the end of the race so you can internally take note how fast you ran the race but you will not be given timing chips and we encourage you to focus on the fun aspect of the race rather than the speed.
It is a festival after all!! So be sure to come early and bring your friends and family. We’ve got several activities including our foam pit, mini inflatable obstacle course, and bounce house. We even have activities for the kids at heart! Like our Skyfall (A 25’ drop onto a airbag/stunt bag)!

Such a blast!
So much fun! Could have used a bit more staff on some of the obstacles to help move things along. Would have also liked to see the obstacles numbered so you could see how far along you were.
The professional photos were great and all in all it was a fantastic event!
Foamy Muddy Blast
Our team of 5 had a blast - we loved the obstacles. Everyone was there for a great time & showed great spirit. No pressure...just good filthy fun!
Despite my nervousness this was so much fun. Raced it with my daughter, grandsons and my daughter's lifelong friends. A great experience for all. The kids had to dig me out a few times :-) Loved the slides, ate a little foam and was one of the most fun experiences so far this summer
Best Day Ever!
The 5K Foam Fest was the Best Day Ever! Running and Laughing is no easy task, however...can not wait to do it again! Had such a great time...made memories...faced challenges and conquered them like I never thought I would! And...can not stop giggling every time I think about the whole thing! I had mud where mud doesn't belong!!! Signed up and ready for next year! Yahoooooooooooooo!
Waited in line an hour to park, then ran for 10 minutes, then waited in line for 30 minutes, then ran for 5 minutes, then waited in line for 10.... They should re-name the event "Line Fest."
It was OK, 7/10.
Constructive Criticism/Feedback:
-Too many bottlenecks. An overall hour's worth of waiting in line at least.
- The MC was continuously calling the event "Parksville" despite it being advertised as Nanaimo and the vast majority of participants being from Nanaimo. Felt jarring, like when musicians/bands call out the wrong city name at a concert. Oops.
- No ATMs for the food trucks??!!! Absolute madness.
Otherwise it was ok. That being said unless the above gets fixed, I won't be going again. Maybe I'll skip a year and see how they improve.

So much fun! Had so many laughs with good friends, great event to see where I am with my overall fitness. Would love to do again
Most fun EVER
I had the most fun I think I've ever had! Before we were even off the course we had already decided to do the 2017 Foam Fest again. I'm hooked now and ready for next year! My only complaint was the wait for the tubes obstacle and some of the slides. Also there weren't enough photographers at the obstacles. Loved it so much!
So much fun
We had so much fun! It was my first race and it was a perfect way to kick it off! Volunteers were fabulous. We ran into quite a backlog waiting for the lily pad and we were cold so of that could be helped that would be terrific. Maybe some more water stations if you are waiting or some tunes to keep you pumped up. The slide was quite a wait too. Not sure if those can be avoided but we had a blast. Hope to bring the whole family next year. Perhaps having it in July would account for warmer weather?
I had an AWESOME time with my small team. Never done anything like this before and will definitely be back next year!! I do have to say though that the line ups were a bit of a bummer and we skipped the tubes on the pond (I understand there were thousands of people and it was the first time in Nanaimo) Along with the slip n slides being a little not-slippy, and the mud pits were very, very rocky which took away from some of the fun. All that aside though it was really great and I can't wait until next year!!
