Indian Mud Run obstacle races, mud run, and OCR information, distance, cost, dates, calendar, discounts, obstacles, reviews, and more

The Indian Mud run is a very challenging obstacle course race through beautiful hills alongside spectacular rock formations. The Indian Mud Run is an official Obstacle Course Racing World Championship qualifier with the top 5 in each age group men and women qualifying for age group divisions and the top 3 overall men and women qualifying for Pro division.

The 2017 race will feature Dewayne Montgomery Coach Pain” as the start line motivator. New in 2017 the Indian Mud Run will offer 2 race lengths and a new start and finish line area. We also have a 3 lap option (20 miles-150 obstacles) and all 3 lap finishers earn an authentic American Indian made arrow upon completion.

The competitive waves will be 6 plus miles long with 50 plus obstacles. The non-competitive waves will be around a 5k length and offer close to 35 obstacles. The terrain is an obstacle itself and the course will challenge you with world class obstacles.

Some of the obstacles include 20’ cargo net climb, Swivel ladder climb, natural rock climb with ropes, steep hills, Net climb over ravine, Cliff climb on rope ladder, Log traverse, 165’ water slide, 20’ high climbing wall, mud pit and many more. The competitive course is mandatory obstacle completion with bands. The competitive course will have the above obstacles plus the weaver, Rig, walls, rappel, and end with the ¾ mile gauntlet of Skull valley, Irish table, Rope traverse, 40 foot monkey bars, Dragons back, Rope climb, Rig, Half pipe wall and slide into pond, Destroyer and Wall hanger. 4 of the gauntlet obstacles are signature obstacles from past Obstacle Course Racing World Championships and are used with permission from the obstacles owners.

The top 3 finishers in each 5 year age group will receive an authentic American Indian made Tomahawk but you must run in the competitive waves to be eligible for the Tomahawk. The top 15 in each age group will have their name on the back of the following year’s shirt. After the race you get a free can beer (not draft) and a free ride on our Blob pillow. Racers also get a cool medal, and a beautiful shirt. Shirts include the top 500 placers from the previous year’s race. We also have a separate kid’s course.

Our mission is to provide the best mud run possible. We strive to have the best course, a great shirt, a cool finisher’s medal, fun post-race entertainment and good food all at a fair price. We have an awesome course with spectacular rock formations, great views, super obstacles and easy access with a 4 lane highway less than a quarter mile away. Some of our best obstacles are very spectator friendly so bring a camera, some friends and a big smile.

Outstanding! A Must-D0!

Jun 30, 2018 by Brian Crim

I've done a lot of obstacle races and Indian Mud Run is without a doubt one of the best...I'd only rate OCRWC above it! I've never seen better obstacle innovation --- and there are nearly 60 of them! --- or such brilliant use of the beautiful, natural landscape, especially the the cliffs and rock formations. It's way better than Spartan. What you get for the price? --- simply unbeatable...it's hands-down the best value in OCR that I've ever seen! Its accessible to everyone with a 10K option, 5K option, as well as special pricing for high schoolers ($25) and a kids race ($10, medal included). The medals were first class too. Speaking of race bling, very few OCRs do age group awards. IMR is one of the few and the authentic tomahawks top any medal, plaque, or trophy (only Mud Ninja's swords have a similar cool factor). First class all the way. Don't miss this one!!!

Simply Amazing

Jun 30, 2018 by Bobby

“Wow” is the first word that comes to mind! While my race didn’t go as planned and severely hurt my ankle 1/2 mile in, I still finished the race all the while soaking in its greatness! I had the choice to stop when I injured my foot but I just had to see what this race was all about after hearing so many great things. It didn’t disappoint even at my worst. The obstacles were challenging and running and climbing in the mountains terrain was quit the thrill. I’ve run a lot of races and honestly, none like this! I have no doubt I will make the trip next year from Florida to hopefully enjoy the run pain free and take on whatever new surprises the Indian Mud Run has I stored! Great race and highly recommended!!!!

Best OCR!

Jun 28, 2018 by Janlyn Eikenberg

This race is one of my absolute favorite events in OCR. The 10k course is the perfect distance with technical trails, rock climbing, and rolling hills. Hubie never disappoints with obstacles either with 55 obstacles in 2018. The obstacles are fun and yet still challenging for all skill levels. The race volunteers are also first class and some of the mos supportive I have ever seen. For anyone who loves obstacles this is a must do race!

World Class Event

Jun 27, 2018 by Heather Hannin Voorhis

2018 - this is my second year running this event. Hubie has created something very special here with the insane terrain, natural obstacles, and WORLD CLASS man made obstacles. He keeps raising the bar and brings out the best of every person out on his course. This may be a smaller “local” event but I would put it right up there with OCR Worlds as a must do event!! All levels of athletes are embraced and challenged. I can not recommend this event enough!! Keep doing what you are doing Hubie, I cannot wait to see what you’ve got planned for next year!!

This race is a MUST!

Jun 26, 2018 by Jason Williams

This is the second year we got a group from Florida to travel north to do this race, and we will definitely be back with more people next year! Definitely put this race on your MUST DO list. It's only once a year, so forget any other race that is going on that weekend. It's got it all: technical trails, elevation changes, amazing views and crazy hills, natural obstacles, great creative man-made obstacles (including big ones you would see at Worlds like Floating Walls, Dragon's Back, Ninja Rings, etc.), and amazing people. Do this race!

Best mud run

Jun 25, 2018 by Jenifer Saunier

This was the best mud run I ever ran. I signed up with my uncle to “prepare” for warrior dash... little did I know that After running Indian mud run, warrior dash felt like nothing to run. This course is awesome because it has nature made obstacles mixed with man made...-by far my favorite race I have ever run. I highly recommend this race to anyone looking for a good challenge as well as a fun race.

The real deal

Jun 25, 2018 by James stiffey

This event is amazing. Incredibly challenging terrain, massive amounts of technical running and unique man made obstacles abound on this course. Not for beginners necessarily but this is an event that will test your heart and drive like few others can.

IMR!!!

Jun 25, 2018 by Jon Caldwell

Best Race of the Year! The unique and difficult obstacle and the awesome technical terrain made this my new favorite race. This might be a local race but everything about it was as good if not better than some of those "corporations" out there. Can't wait til next year!

Incredible Challenge!

Jun 25, 2018 by Amy Holda

This was my first IMR and it lived up to the hype! It was 6.6 miles of well-used, technical terrain with over 50 obstacles. At one point you're scaling rock and another traversing a canal on just one rope. The free-standing constructed obstacles were creative and difficult.
The event volunteers were all friendly and helpful and Coach Pain was a great motivator at the starting line. I love that the women's shirts were actually a woman's cut and not just a small man's shirt.

Only cons: I had an issue with my timing chip but was able to get it corrected easily enough because I knew who I finished with. Also, I wish there were more pictures taken. Next year I'll just drag my teenagers along with cameras to some of the more accessible obstacles.

This course will challenge your body and mind and was a very reasonable price. We will definitely be back next year!
