Indian Mud Run obstacle races, mud run, and OCR information, distance, cost, dates, calendar, discounts, obstacles, reviews, and more

The Indian Mud run is a very challenging obstacle course race through beautiful hills alongside spectacular rock formations. The Indian Mud Run is an official Obstacle Course Racing World Championship qualifier with the top 5 in each age group men and women qualifying for age group divisions and the top 3 overall men and women qualifying for Pro division.

The 2017 race will feature Dewayne Montgomery Coach Pain” as the start line motivator. New in 2017 the Indian Mud Run will offer 2 race lengths and a new start and finish line area. We also have a 3 lap option (20 miles-150 obstacles) and all 3 lap finishers earn an authentic American Indian made arrow upon completion.

The competitive waves will be 6 plus miles long with 50 plus obstacles. The non-competitive waves will be around a 5k length and offer close to 35 obstacles. The terrain is an obstacle itself and the course will challenge you with world class obstacles.

Some of the obstacles include 20’ cargo net climb, Swivel ladder climb, natural rock climb with ropes, steep hills, Net climb over ravine, Cliff climb on rope ladder, Log traverse, 165’ water slide, 20’ high climbing wall, mud pit and many more. The competitive course is mandatory obstacle completion with bands. The competitive course will have the above obstacles plus the weaver, Rig, walls, rappel, and end with the ¾ mile gauntlet of Skull valley, Irish table, Rope traverse, 40 foot monkey bars, Dragons back, Rope climb, Rig, Half pipe wall and slide into pond, Destroyer and Wall hanger. 4 of the gauntlet obstacles are signature obstacles from past Obstacle Course Racing World Championships and are used with permission from the obstacles owners.

The top 3 finishers in each 5 year age group will receive an authentic American Indian made Tomahawk but you must run in the competitive waves to be eligible for the Tomahawk. The top 15 in each age group will have their name on the back of the following year’s shirt. After the race you get a free can beer (not draft) and a free ride on our Blob pillow. Racers also get a cool medal, and a beautiful shirt. Shirts include the top 500 placers from the previous year’s race. We also have a separate kid’s course.

Our mission is to provide the best mud run possible. We strive to have the best course, a great shirt, a cool finisher’s medal, fun post-race entertainment and good food all at a fair price. We have an awesome course with spectacular rock formations, great views, super obstacles and easy access with a 4 lane highway less than a quarter mile away. Some of our best obstacles are very spectator friendly so bring a camera, some friends and a big smile.

I talked my friend into doing the race with me and we had a blast!! The obstacLes were challenging and so much fun! We decided to make this an annual tradition for us! We are super sore and next year we plan to train better!!! It's a must do!!

The terrain is very technical and Hubie does an excellent job of using it wisely when mapping out his courses. Always trying to add new and unique obstacles which keeps things fresh. They also had womens finisher shirts this year wh4ich I'm sure a lot of the female racers liked. If you want a challenging and fun course definitely this is the one to do. You can tell he puts his heart into these races, and it's more about putting on a great race for the racers than making money like the big brand named races are about. Worth the trip. You won't regret it.

IMR - Run Like You're Being Chased

Jun 25, 2018 by Gwenn Case

Yet another brilliant experience composed by Hubie Cushman and his crew, Indian Mud Run challenged me from the moment Coach Pain sent us off into the technically brutal and visually beautiful course that took every ounce of strength and versatility I had to cross that finish, and when I did I felt both relieved and extremely accomplished, the event does not fail to both humble and excite you in one fell swoop! The obstacles are unique and require some fortitude and patience, and the placement of each is perfect, I never found myself running too long without a Cushman creation threatening my band! Beautiful course, great staff, you will not leave the venue wanting, except wanting to sign up for 2019 ASAP! Slick mud, Rocky and sloped terrain, hills upon hills, well made and captivating obstacles!

Indian Mud Run 2018

Jun 25, 2018 by Maria Tornudd

This is a must once a year event to attend. Especially for those who are willing to step outside of their comfort zone, and be challenged in a whole different way compared to other every weekend races, and even better, mandatory obstacle completion, NO BURPEES nor other penalties if you realize it's not gonna happen, you will get your band cut (no worries, you can still continue running and attempt the other obstacles, they keep track how many obstacles you where able to complete). I love the many unique and challenging obstacles (55 and the number keeps growing every year), very technical steep hilly terrain, and becomes extreme when it has rained a lot.

Indian mud run is the best!

Jun 25, 2018 by Tiffany stout

I have completed 4 Indian Mud Run races and it's the event I look forward to the most every year. The use of natural terrain for obstacles is my favorite! From climbing straight up rock walls, crossing ravines with a net, huge water slide into the canal, rocks, logs, rappelling down steep hills, going up oh shit hill, rope traverses, and there are just too many to list! Then there are the technical obstacles like the famous floating walls, rope climbs, upper extremity tests, dragons back, warp walls, and again too many to list! This is almost like a cross between ninja warrior and a obstacle run. There are hardly any areas where you run without encountering SOMETHING! It started out a few years ago like a hyped up warrior dash and has evolved to a ocr qualifier that brings people from all over!!!! You can chose the 5k or 7 mile competitive or for fun. The vendors and swag are highly rated too! The awards are top notch, being authentic Indian arrows and tomahawks. I would so highly recommend this race! You won't be disappointed!

Please Sir, I’d like some More

Jun 25, 2018 by Nick Cerone

This ain’t your Tu-Tu wearing, can’t do the obstacle do an exercise, spear chuckin’ air conditioned stadium fun run, THIS is smack yo momma, spit in your eye, pull up your britches OCR Racing at its finest... When the race director (Hubie Cushman) is the Mad Scientist of Obstacle Design you can bet he’s going to throw everything at you including the kitchen sink... Technical terrain and obstacle after obstacle that’s going to test every part of your ocr game so you’d better come prepared. They put their heart and soul into this event and it shows. It’s only held once a year, the first Saturday after Father’s Day so block out your calendar NOW! This race brings in some of the best competitors out there and with good reason but if you’re a newbie or just a weekend warrior don’t let this scare you off because you won’t find a better Tribe of people to support you and make those open waves a blast, which btw is what the OCR community is all about.... Can’t wait for 2019!

The best

Jun 25, 2018 by Aaron Pyle

Hands down the best obstacles and terrain. Local does it best but this is definitely a world class race. I think some people might surprise themselves if decide to take a step outside of their comfort zone and try something local rather than the big name repetitive races. Its like home cooking and it taste damn good.

IMR

Jun 24, 2018 by Lana Morgan

I started running this race several years back when it was more of a small town community event. Since then the director Hubie has grown it into a registered OCR event where people come from all over the country. A lot of the course is on beautiful challenging single track thru the woods and over natural rock formations. Some people are leery of the water crossings but one of my favorite parts. Hubie and his volunteers are very friendly and accommodating and the participants are supportive of all ability levels. I may never be able to "compete" but I'll definitely be there every year to cheer the pros and then let them root for me!

I had a blast!

Jun 24, 2018 by Maggie Kalenak

This was my fist time at IMR. I have done many of the obstacles at worlds but never this race. I enjoyed every second of the fun filled obstacles paced race. To my surprise I placed first in my age group and came home with an authentic Indian made Tomahawk! This race and all the memories with friends I will cherish forever!

This was my first IMR! I loved all the crazy obsticals. We ran the 5k got a little lost and did more than a 5k. I wish there were more photographers around especially at the bigger obsticals. I want to show people what I did lol. And have them stay out longer for the later group runners. Other than that I had a lot of fun and will be back again. Thank you for putting on a great race
