Indian Mud Run obstacle races, mud run, and OCR information, distance, cost, dates, calendar, discounts, obstacles, reviews, and more

The Indian Mud run is a very challenging obstacle course race through beautiful hills alongside spectacular rock formations. The Indian Mud Run is an official Obstacle Course Racing World Championship qualifier with the top 5 in each age group men and women qualifying for age group divisions and the top 3 overall men and women qualifying for Pro division.

The 2017 race will feature Dewayne Montgomery Coach Pain” as the start line motivator. New in 2017 the Indian Mud Run will offer 2 race lengths and a new start and finish line area. We also have a 3 lap option (20 miles-150 obstacles) and all 3 lap finishers earn an authentic American Indian made arrow upon completion.

The competitive waves will be 6 plus miles long with 50 plus obstacles. The non-competitive waves will be around a 5k length and offer close to 35 obstacles. The terrain is an obstacle itself and the course will challenge you with world class obstacles.

Some of the obstacles include 20’ cargo net climb, Swivel ladder climb, natural rock climb with ropes, steep hills, Net climb over ravine, Cliff climb on rope ladder, Log traverse, 165’ water slide, 20’ high climbing wall, mud pit and many more. The competitive course is mandatory obstacle completion with bands. The competitive course will have the above obstacles plus the weaver, Rig, walls, rappel, and end with the ¾ mile gauntlet of Skull valley, Irish table, Rope traverse, 40 foot monkey bars, Dragons back, Rope climb, Rig, Half pipe wall and slide into pond, Destroyer and Wall hanger. 4 of the gauntlet obstacles are signature obstacles from past Obstacle Course Racing World Championships and are used with permission from the obstacles owners.

The top 3 finishers in each 5 year age group will receive an authentic American Indian made Tomahawk but you must run in the competitive waves to be eligible for the Tomahawk. The top 15 in each age group will have their name on the back of the following year’s shirt. After the race you get a free can beer (not draft) and a free ride on our Blob pillow. Racers also get a cool medal, and a beautiful shirt. Shirts include the top 500 placers from the previous year’s race. We also have a separate kid’s course.

Our mission is to provide the best mud run possible. We strive to have the best course, a great shirt, a cool finisher’s medal, fun post-race entertainment and good food all at a fair price. We have an awesome course with spectacular rock formations, great views, super obstacles and easy access with a 4 lane highway less than a quarter mile away. Some of our best obstacles are very spectator friendly so bring a camera, some friends and a big smile.

Indian Mud Run 2019

Jun 26, 2019 by Austin Abbott

This was my first year attending the Indian Mud Run and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. The quality and quantity of obstacles was something I've never seen before and the terrain on the course was very technical and challenging. I would definitely recommend this race and will be back for many years to come!

Best. Race. Ever.

Jun 26, 2019 by Andrew F

Hands down, this is my new favorite OCR event!! 2019 was my first year running and after just the first mile I was already hooked and set to sign up for next year. The terrain is a great mix of rock scrambles, epic hills, and open fields. And the obstacles are like nothing I've ever encountered on a course. I cannot recommend this race enough!

Best. Race. EVER!

Jun 26, 2019 by Julie Abbott

This Indian Mud Run is absolutely EPIC. 6.5 miles, 1500+ elevation, and 72 obstacles. The terrain is insane (taking racers across canals, up and down cliff sides, and through winding trails) and the obstacles are world-class-unbelievable (picture a 165 foot water slide, 40 foot long monkey bars, and obstacle innovation only pictures can explain). An energizing festival area, amazing local community support, and all around impressive event. My calendar is already marked for 2020!

Seriously Awesome!!!

Jun 25, 2019 by Lori Danko

Indian Mud Run is an epic race that combines 70+ obstacles with beautiful, badass terrain. Challenging, adventurous, fun, and exhausting all at the same time. It has a family atmosphere and is one of the best races I have ever experienced. The music was awesome, the food and entire festival area were top notch. There were many different vendors, amazing raffles, and handmade awards, just to name a few of the incredible highlights. You cannot miss this race! I rate it 5 out of 5 stars, if I could use a bigger number I would! I will never miss this race, it is such a memory maker!

Bucket List Race 2.0

Jun 25, 2019 by Jorge Estevez

This event was one “hell” of a race. Challenging yet fun. Top 3 in my favorite OCRs list thus far. Definitely coming back next year. Hands down to one of the best race directors ever, Mr. Hubie Chashman himself!

Add IMR to your “must do” list

Jun 25, 2019 by Michele Fisher

our friend has been begging us to do this race for years, we finally raced in 2019 and I am mad at myself for not doing this race sooner. This course is AMAZING. The terrain itself it a huge challenge, but beautiful. Climbing up rock face, little water falls, overlooking the town below from the second a-frame, and slipping and sliding down one of the many downhill portions was just plain fun! On to the obstacles. Holy crap!! Prepare to have some of your favorites, along with new innovations, and twist on things like low rigs, and slides!! The IMR main water slide is so big and you fly off the end! It was a super fun way to refresh yourself in the lake. I recommend this race for everyone and cannot wait to come back next year!! I am hoping to beat some obstacles that beat me in 2019, and have an even more amazing time. Don’t delay, honestly sign up as soon as registration opens as I feel it will sell out quickly after everyone hears how epic 2019 was!

This is the best race I have ever run

Jun 25, 2019 by Joe Clore

Rated at 5 stars because there was no option for 6 stars. I’ve been told about this race for over a year, but was sort of burnt out on OCR races. So many of them are the same obstacles, the same courses, at the same venues. Everything about them seems cheap and redundant. After being convinced that this race was different, I decided to give it a shot. I will tell you that this was the most fantastic OCR I have ever encountered. The obstacles created by Hubie, the mastermind, were amazing. Everything you would expect from any top notch OCR race. And there were So. Many. Obstacles. This was my first time, and I will not pretend to know the names of all the obstacles, but they were big, they were hard and there was a water slide that blew my socks off. The most unique and challenging aspect of this course was the way they embraced the terrain. The trails were incredibly challenging, and incredibly vertical. There were several places where you were practically rock climbing if not scrambling up a hillside or rock face. This course was relentless. I had the opportunity to meet Hubie a few times through the course of the weekend, and the passion he has for this race and this sport was infectious. I caught the bug, and I’m coming back for this race if it’s the only OCR I ever do again. You should come too.

A MUST DO!!!

Jun 25, 2019 by Lori Gray

Hands down, the IMR 2019 was the best race race I’ve done! Hubris outdid himself! The obstacles were fun, inventive, and challenging. And, the use of the terrain was spectacular. This will be a yearly event for us! This is a must add to any OCR enthusiast’s bucket list!

Fantastic course! Hubie once again had outdone himself! Challenging obstacles, great work integrating the beautiful natural terrain into the race. I loved the option between the short and long course. The amount of obstacles alone is amazing! Over fifty!! And the variety is awesome. I love the band ranking system, I have a chance to place higher if I complete obstacles instead oflosing place to the runners that skip what takes too long. There’s a challenge for everyone here. This is the one race I won’t miss.

The best race I've done!

Jul 03, 2018 by Derek Childers

This race was absolutely amazing! It pushes even the most competitive racers to be better every step of the way. Indian Mud Run is truly an Obstacle Course Race, I love the band concept that if you keep your band you place higher than someone who can just run fast. Will new obstacles every year and the innovative approach IMR takes to their course this will always be a race I make sure not to miss. Thank you IMR for the amazing race!!!
