Before and after your run, you'll get to party with thousands of other maniacs in our day-long festival where you can ride mechanical bulls, pretend to be a kid in our adult bounce houses, and dance your butt off in the festival and enjoy lots of new games and activities. Event Name: Rugged Maniac Phoenix Spring 2021

This was my second run at Rugged Maniac, and not much has changed. In place of being at the local baseball stadium complex, this time it was staged at Wild Horse Motorsport Park...huge improvement there. It wasn't all flat ground this time! We had most all the obstacles listed on the website, with just a few omissions.

The one BIG thing that stuck out to me were the volunteers. They were everywhere, by the entrance and exit. Other than the two water stations (which were perfectly staffed, thank you!), I recall only seeing 2 others out on the course. One by the monkey bars and one by the fire jump.

It was a muddy good time, and my family had fun, but the lack of support on the course is what sticks out most to me. If someone gets hurt, how could they be helped quickly? Lastly, the event shirts are labeled wrong. I requested a large, the bag and shirt both have an L printed on them, but mine is more of a smallish medium than anything. So beware, they don't just run small...they're at least one size smaller.

Completely dissatisfied. We signed up for the Columbus, OH location and the date was at the end of May. We recieved an email that the date was changed to July 10th which would be no big deal but my Husband will be deploying before that date. So I sent and email stating that's I have his orders and he will not be in town and I would at least like a refund for his ticket since I have proof he won't be home. They will not refund his ticket. I understand things change but we did not sign up for the July date. They keep telling me to do the virtual one but he will be deployed and who knows if that is even possible. So sad as to how rhis company treats military members.

Event Name: Rugged Phoenix Springs

Rugged Maniac is a disgrace during this time of a world health emergency. I live in Wyoming and had purchased the Phoenix race and planned everything out. The virus hits and the airlines allow me to cancel(despite not being refundable), hotels allow my to cancel, and what does Rugged do? Tell me I can come back in November or use my $150 towards my medal and t-shirt. Everyone is in financial despair right now but holding my money and saying it is to pay for the lost event is BS. The same costs for the spring race will be required in the fall, therefore if I don't participate in another event they will just use it to cut their losses for this race. Also, Macaulay has instructed me that their policy clearly states no refunds are allowed, for anything. And yet their FAQ page states: "Unfortunately we do not allow transfers to another race at this time." So you can bend some rules but not others. Using the virus to recoup your losses is a total disgrace. Oh and no Management to talk to, just email to whoever wants to respond. You guys suck!

This was my first time running a Rugged Maniac; I had previously done a number of Spartan Races and Terrain Races. I decided to sign up due to the price - $29, plus discounted parking and taxes taking me closer to $55.

Overall, I had a great time. Parking and check in was smooth, I had an early start time, maybe that helped? The course was flat and the obstacles were fun, but not as challenging as Spartan Obstacles. The vendors were good and the DJ was entertaining.

I enjoyed it enough that I signed up for the Phoenix spring 2020 event. It helps that it is close enough to me I can ride my bike and save on parking.

I was super excited to run this race since 2016 Rugged Maniac was off the charts fun. We ran this during a Heat Wave 98 degrees with heat index of 103. My team and I were disappointed from what the website stated the obstacles would be and they were either not there or half an obstacles was there. The Iron curtain was not up but did have just the mud pit, they switched some obstacles and chose to to put black tube obstacles in there place which felt like a sauna inside of them. The water slide at the end did not exist nor did the bounce house obstacle or the planks with the inflatable balls/bags. There were 3 sets monkey bar type obstacles in which 2 were so high anyone under 5'2 could not even jump to reach to attempt. The trampoline obstacle in 2016 was awesome, but this year was disappointing. The warped wall was fun even though the outer covering was not as secured so it made getting your footing difficult. The obstacles have gotten harder so I don't suggest this race for beginning mud runners.
We still had fun at the end of the day and hopefully next year All Obstacles will be there again.

First time (and probably the last time) doing this race. Only 5 or 6 original and fun obstacles and the rest are either same thin repeating or running up hill and down hill in dirt and mud.
Stage performance was poor and offensive. There was a pull up contest and my group signed up together. They separate men and women and made women in my group wait over 45 minutes to compete against children. It was so offensive and disturbing. Don’t think we will go back .

So much fun!!!

This was my 4th OCR and hands down the best one so far. This course kicked my butt (my fault for being so out of shape), but I signed up to do it again this year. The obstacles were fun and challenging, the mud and water didn't smell, and the free beer at the end is always appreciated. My favorite obstacle was Off The Rail and I hope they bring it back again this year!

One of the Best

I've probably done 10 mud runs in the last 5 or 6 years, and I have to say I think this one is my favorite. The obstacles were really fun! It was challenging, but not super hard. I liked the mix of climbing walls with inflatable obstacles and a trampoline obstacle. There were 25 fun obstacles in 3 miles, so it wasn't a ton of dusty trail running. The parking was $10 and close to event. Spectators were free, the event was well organized and had lots of fun things to do afterwards. You had to be present to get your wrist bands and they checked wave times at the start line, seems like good common sense to keep things running smooth. The medic tent was right by the finish line, which was great for scrapes and cuts. I wish they had water at the end in addition to the sport drinks, but you could buy it if you wanted. I loved the t shirt (women's cut and super soft) and medal, and you didn't get a bag full of advertising and junk to throw out. Perfect spring weather and a great group of friends didn't hurt! :)
