You could feel the nervous tension in the air at the OCR World Championships at dusk on Thursday night. In 12 short hours, the first racers of the weekend would be taking their mark. Athletes from 67 different nations were congregating around the obstacles as the finishing touches were being made. Strategies were developing and although we did not speak the same languages, you could tell we were all thinking the same thing; this course is going to be brutal.
This morning Obstacle Course Racing made a muddy splash on the popular cable morning show Fox & Friends as Civilian Military Combine graced the airwaves. The revamped organization showcased some of the obstacles and "The Pit" area during several segments this morning in New York City.
Civilian Military Combine has been a fan a favorite since it began in 2011. Recently, the organization went through a revamp and is re-launching in September 2016. CMC is the original hybrid OCR, the event features both a functional fitness workout and an obstacle course. Participants are scored in each and their results are the combination of the two events. The relaunch will take place at the historic Fort. Hamilton in Brooklyn, New York.
