About Spartan Dave

I am a former couch potato turned obsessed OCR Athlete. I got hooked on OCR's after doing the Spartan Malibu Sprint in 2014. I was out of shape & barely survived. As soon as I crossed the finish line, I knew was hooked. I had a great "rookie" season in 2015 as a 48 year old, but 2016 will be a rebuilding year due to injuries, That won't keep me away from attending as many OCR events as I can though as I recover!! #OCRAddict

Race Recap: Terrain Racing Heads to Irvine Lake

By |December 2nd, 2017|

This is my review of a race I've been hearing good things about for quite some time now. This past Saturday I thought I'd take a trip out to Irvine Lake to see what all the fuss was around Terrain Race. I got there about 7am and was pleased to see the parking was situated right near the entrance!!!

Race Recap: Warrior Dash SoCal 2017

By |April 13th, 2017|

Saturday's Warrior Dash was like visiting a good friend who always brings a smile to your face. The race itself isn't the hardest or the longest. But it is a great test for those new to OCR and want to see how they like the sport we've come to love. Plus it has one hell of a fun festival area for post-race festivities.

Race Recap: Gladiator Rock’n Run Rose Bowl

By |September 2nd, 2016|

Gladiator Rock'n Run is in the books, and as was the case last year, it was a really good time. I originally was just going to spectate and cheer on the masses and catch up with my OCR family. But when #MRG needed someone to step up and run the race, I said why not!! [...]

Race Recap: AT&T Stadium Sprint

By |May 20th, 2016|

I went to the Spartan Race AT&T Stadium Sprint over the weekend to test my knee out that I had scoped 5 weeks earlier. Also to see where I was fitness wise, after not working out for a few months now. I thought to myself could I choose a worse race to test a knee out than at a stadium race? Too late...let's do this!!

Race Recap: Spartan Race Arizona 2016

By |March 2nd, 2016|

As I fly to work meetings I have on the east coast, I'm reflecting on the weekend that was the Spartan Arizona Sprint. Driving to the venue Saturday morning, I got excited as a kid on Christmas Day like I always do before an OCR event. But this time, I wasn't getting mentally prepared, focusing on how I would attack the race and other pre-race rituals I have come to do before a race.
