Our bud Evan "Rocket" Dollard is back with a new episode of Spartan Strong, this time he takes to the El Moro Trails in CA to run some good old fashioned hill sprints, chase a bunny, and work on his pistol squats.
Over the weekend, Spartan Race had some controversy with one of the elite athletes, Robert Killian. Killian while attempting the Rig obstacle had his foot brush the ground but the officials did not see it happen however others observed the action and lack of penalty and the Internet started buzzing.
My first race was Malibu 2013 and it was COLD!! Not knowing what I was getting into, we went hard out the gate. I was huffing and puffing so hard, I literally thought I wasn’t going to make it. I was slipping everywhere because I was in experienced and was wearing Nike Frees! I failed pretty much every obstacle out there (rope climb, monkey bars, spear) so I was drowning in burpees. I wanted to cry because I was so tired and so cold. I kept asking myself “why did I sign up for this”! But then I crossed the finished line and earned my first medal. After that, I was hooked.
Spartan Race headed to Asheville, North Carolina over the weekend and Arnel Banawa of OCRTUBE.com was there to capture all the action. With the competition fierce and the mother nature on point, the race offered a challenging and exciting course.
Fires, tires and barbed wires... OCR does it again.
The Reebok All Terrain Super OR's are extremely light and flexible with great traction, and just the right combo of heel-toe drop and cushioning along with a midfoot rock plate to make them great trail racing shoes on non-technical terrain. The upper is surprisingly breathable for a high-tech "durable" material, and they are extremely comfortable if you have a pretty normal foot width; though they may prove to be a little too narrow for some athletes.
Have you been training for an obstacle race? Are you sure you know what you're doing? Truth is, there's no black and white with obstacle race training. There's just a whole lot of grey.
When Joe De Sena, founder of Spartan Race tells us to Spartan Up, we listen. While congratulating Mud Run Guide on passing 1000 original articles - lots of Spartan Race content in there too - he issues a challenge, are you Spartan FIT?
Ninja Swords, Green Berets and Tree Huggers - just a few things that make our sport great, if not a bit weird...
