Sitting on the dock swing, Hannah and Gigi are discussing who will be returning. Everyone wants to see Herman and Melanie walk across the bridge. Herman makes his way. Green team is excited. Carla makes her return. Michael from Team Grady is not pleased with Carla’s return as he claims she is an “ugly beauty queen” and “Selfish”. He wants her gone.
Many obstacle races offer more than one option when signing up for a race. Typically registration is split up into two categories elite (or competitive) or open heats. Elite and open heats both offer participants the same course and the same obstacles but running in either type of heat can offer a bit different experience.
The 2017 Spartan U.S. Championship Series made a return to Blue Mountain Ski Area in Palmerton, Pa. Last year, this Super course received raved reviews from everyone as a very difficult race with a tremendous focus on the difficult inclines the mountain possesses. This year, I heard nothing but strong remarks from the many athletes I spoke to.
In a world where OCR events have become a dime a dozen, it’s hard to take a new race series seriously. A lot of us have fallen victim to events fresh to the market that fell extremely short of their claims, or were downright dangerous due to lack of experience or foresight, or both. Let me be clear when I say that Frontline OCR is NOT one of those events.
After a few mud runs or obstacle races, it's easy to catch the bug and dive into the OCR lifestyle. Below is a list of ways to improve your experience in the world of OCR. Pick and choose what works best for you and implement those into your life and racing.
Kate was brought to my attention for this article series by a friend of hers. He noted to me in his initial email that she was a “cut above the rest”. I was intrigued and looked into Kate a bit before asking her to be profiled for my Badass Women of OCR article series. From the information I garnered from her friend and from Kate directly, I felt that she was a good fit for this series due to her strength, determination, and humility when it comes to being in OCR.
Tonight’s episode began the quarter-finals. The first heat teams included Heart of Texas, Commanding Officers, and Showtime. Heat two included Little Giants, Comeback Kids, and Strike a Pose. I’ve got the CO’s in heat one and the CKs and heat 2
Walls are an integral part of almost every obstacle race or mud run. They can range in height from a few feet up to over 10-feet tall. Being able to get over the wall is often a challenge for many obstacle racers. Warrior Dash, the 5K obstacle course race that more than 3 million people have completed since 2009, is commemorating the anniversary of its inception with the inaugural National Obstacle Course Racing Day on July 18. The annual holiday will serve as a day to celebrate the obstacle course racing industry and its continuing growth in popularity.
