Why the Short Course at OCRWC is Good For Our Sport

OCR World Championships Short Course Reaction First off, I want to try and clear up a few red flags that some may start waving after watching my video. Different distances in OCR and track/running (two of the examples I used in the video) aren’t clear-cut comparisons. In our sport, we obviously have obstacles scattered all [...]

Race Recap: BATTLEFROG NORCAL: The Race Where BattleFrog Converts Naysayers

The West Coast debut of BattleFrog has been overwhelmingly positive, but not without trepidations. Attendance has been light to moderate, but those who have gone have vocally enjoyed themselves tremendously. The initial grumbling about the “San Francisco” race being held at Lake Sonoma, which is a rather a long distance from the actual City by the Bay slowly quieted, as social media photos began to emerge of breathtaking views and promises of impressive elevation.

This week for Trainer Tuesday I’m going to provide you with a few tests you can do to show you the importance of how a proper warm-up can improve your performance. I won’t provide you with a ton of info on why it’s so important. Many of you know these details, you just may decide not to do a good warm-up before your big race.

Adam Kimble’s Run Across USA – Day 8

Identifying an OCR Athlete in the Wild: Part 2

At the bar. Another good time to find OCR athletes is at the bar early Saturday afternoon. After having a free beer post-race plus a couple more that they paid for, the adventurous make their way to a nearby watering hole.

Are Ultra Adventures the New Thrill for OCR Junkies?

You laugh out loud, cry, hug strangers and high-five little kids along the race route, or throw mind-numbing hissy fits over an untied shoelace. You're a snot-rocketing, behind-a-bush peeing, 4am alarm-setting running machine. It's true, you're ^&* crazy. Get used to it. It may sound out-of-your-mind-nuts, but anyone who's been on the endurance rollercoaster has had the above experience. Like I've already said...get used to it.

Adam Kimble’s Run Across USA – Days 5-7

The crew is quickly realizing the challenge of the planned route as we head further east in California. The desert is pretty isolated with sometimes only I-10 passing through the area. As a pedestrian, Adam can’t be on the interstate, and as a crew, it is illegal for us to stop on the interstate if it's not an emergency.

Faces at the Races – Vivien Panganiban

I’m a 35-year-old single mother of two children ages 3 and 5. I have two careers: I’ve worked for the Federal Government for over 15 years and also have my own Fitness/Life Coaching business as well. I use my past struggles with obesity (I’ve lost over 85lbs), depression, anxiety, low-self esteem, emotional/physical abuse, and the loss of 2 children at birth as a way to inspire others to “never give up” on themselves. I have used health & fitness as a way to transform my life both physically and mentally. OCR has been another avenue in which I am able to show others that “obstacles” are put in your way to see if what you want is really worth fighting for.
