Race Recap: Your First Mud Run

By |June 18th, 2015|

Your first Mud Run is an event normally geared for new athletes to OCR, however it's proximity to Tuxedo, NY coincidence with the Spartan Sprint there as well as charity partner made it an enticing mud run to check out. I wanted to write about an event/race that first time racers would want to try so they had something to read and know what they would be getting themselves into, and most importantly the event/race is put on purely to raise money for the amazing charity Hope for Heroes that funds the life-saving work on childhood cancer and blood disorders at Columbia University Medical Center.

Race Recap: Mud Hero – Ottawa

By |June 17th, 2015|

Mud Hero was part two of a recent trip north to Canada. I figured I was already the country for Xman Race and decided to get as much Canadian racing experience possible in one trip. I researched Mud Hero and knew it would be a course that is designed for all levels of racers and happy to have a second race with such long distance travel involved in a weekend.

Plan A Racecation

By |June 17th, 2015|

Recently, my wife and I took our first real racecation – a vacation featuring a race that we wanted to run. We’ve traveled for races before, but almost always to locations that are easily accessible by car, and then we spent a couple of nights before heading home. Las Vegas, Phoenix and Monterey are great examples of this type of close travel, and they tend to be a very fun weekend.

Race Recap: The XMAN Race – Sutton

By |June 16th, 2015|

When deciding my 2015 schedule, I researched races in England, Canada, and America and set a goal of trying to do almost every OCR race that looked amazing. When I researched the Xman Race and watched the videos I found, I could tell it was a great race and I decided right away I wanted to do an Xman Race. I drove from New York to Canada on Friday night.

Warrior Dash Washout

By |June 15th, 2015|

For much of the country it has been a wet spring, rain has plagued many races this year and made for extra muddy courses. Over the weekend Warrior Dash was at the mercy of mother nature and her force was strong. Combined with severe weather, flooding, and limited access to the course by the medical staff Warrior Dash was forced to make the tough decision to cancel their event yesterday.

Race Review: Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Jail-Break Challenge

By |June 15th, 2015|

This is the third year that the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office has opened up their state of the art Law Enforcement Obstacle Training Course to the general public, and this little Local event keeps getting better. While not a traditional OCR where you run for short distances in between obstacles that are spread out, this is more like a 5k trail run around the jail with a nicely challenging obstacle course bunched up at the end.
