Post-Race Cleanup With No Hotel

By |October 4th, 2017|

If you have ever run a race, you are familiar with this problem. “If I run in the 8 am wave and it takes me two hours to finish, that gives me 30 minutes to get changed, 30 minutes for socializing and 45 minutes to get back to my hotel. Then I have 10 minutes to shower and 5 minutes to check out.”

During the championship season of obstacle racing, many participants find themselves traveling beyond the drivable weekend race. Here are a few tips to help make race travel more manageable.

OCR 101: How to Find the Right Obstacle Racing or Mud Run Shoe

By |August 7th, 2017|

Shoes! Shoes are one of the hottest topics in obstacle racing and mud runs. It is one of the first questions that arises for any new athlete and even the experienced athletes at the beginning of the new season. Instead of stocking their closets with the newest designer shoe, obstacle racers and mud runners turn to the running shoe companies to find their closets and shoe racks.

Gear Review: Hylete’s 6 in 1 Backpack: 40L vs. 60L

By |July 6th, 2017|

Hylete makes some of the best fitness clothing on the market, but you may not know about their awesome backpacks. I personally have been using their Icon Expandable backpack for over a year now (check out this review if you want to know more…but it appears to be discontinued off the main Hylete Website), but recently gave their brand in 6 in 1 backpacks a test run for this review.

Shoe Review: Saucony KOA ST Tech Breakdown

By |June 30th, 2017|

Saucony has been a longtime favorite for many runners both on the trails and on the road. The company recently released two new shoes the KOA ST and KOA TR. Saucony's new shoes are not specifically designed for obstacle racing or mud runs. However, when a national brand creates a rugged shoe, it is definitely something to try.

Gear Review: Saucony KOA TR & KOA ST Trail Running Shoes

By |June 23rd, 2017|

Mud Run Guide is always looking for the next great option for you and your obstacle racing needs. Recently we caught wind of the KOA series from Saucony, a brand not well known as an OCR go to shoe. We were intrigued by the KOA ST as it says "MUD" on the side of the shoe. Any shoe that has the word MUD on it intrigues both Brett and Margaret. How could it not?!?

The “Best” Running Shoes

By |June 9th, 2017|

Finding the right shoes can surely be complicated and Brett is here to make it even more difficult. Seriously, it'd be a helluva lot easier if we well wore the same size & style, were the same height, weight, and all ran exactly the same. How hard is that?

By |May 23rd, 2017|

A fan favorite is back this summer from Inov-8. The popular Trailroc series comes back this summer with an upgrade. The Trailroc's were a fan favorite among many obstacle racers for years. When Inov-8 discontinued them a few years ago many flocked to the stores and stocked up. But fear no more that favorite is back!

Gear Review: DgearOG Gloves

By |April 11th, 2017|

I have been running OCR for five years now so I pretty much have my gear list set for my races but these were going to be unchartered waters. The weather itself was going to be an obstacle. I decided on my clothes but wasn’t sure what to do to protect my hands and still be able to use them properly. Regular winter gloves would have kept them warm but would have provided no grip. I did some research and decided on DGearOG Obstacle Course Racing Full Fingered Gloves.
