By |November 30th, 2016|

Inov-8 has revamped much of their shoe line in the last couple of years. One steady shoe that has been a workhorse of the company has been the Roclite series. For 2017, the Roclite series has had a facelift and the latest generation of the shoe introduces a more rugged design. Recently, Inov-8 sent along a pair of the 2017 Inov-8 Roclite 305's to test out.

Gear Review: Neptune Thermoregulation System

By |October 10th, 2016|

For those who love Obstacle Course Racing and participate year round, chances are your performance has been effected more than once by the cold. Whether it be an all-night sufferfest at World’s Toughest Mudder (WTM), being stuck at an obstacle at the OCR World Championships or just racing on an exceptionally cold day. Seeing the freezing updates from the 2016 Spartan World Championship and Ultra Beast, it seems like a perfect time to talk about a new product that is about to hit the market.

Gear Review: dryrobe

By |August 16th, 2016|

Wearing a dryrobe is like being hugged by a Care Bear, it is like walking around in your sleeping bag…and it’s awesome. The dryrobe, which you may have seen as a sponsor on BattleFrog College Championships, at OCR World Championships or at the uphill swim based OCR Neptune Steps, has made a big splash in the OCR world and for a good reason.

Supplement Review: Bodyhacker

By |August 10th, 2016|

I typically stay away from non-major brands of supplements. However, one of my teammates, Christina “Honey Badger” Armstrong (Death Race Finisher and 2xBFX winner) had been telling me I needed to try Bodyhacker pre-workout for several months. I finally relented….

Reebok All Terrain Super OR – Their Best OCR Shoe Yet

By |August 8th, 2016|

The Reebok All Terrain Super OR's are extremely light and flexible with great traction, and just the right combo of heel-toe drop and cushioning along with a midfoot rock plate to make them great trail racing shoes on non-technical terrain. The upper is surprisingly breathable for a high-tech "durable" material, and they are extremely comfortable if you have a pretty normal foot width; though they may prove to be a little too narrow for some athletes.

Gear Review: Road ID

By |June 17th, 2016|

If you are looking for an extra layer of safety or looking for a gift for a loved one, Road ID has some great options. It is a simple concept and a simple design, but a good idea for anyone that spends time on the road or trail training. The Road ID bracelet is a simple rubber band that has a metal nameplate attached to it.

Gear Review: Fat Gripz

By |June 2nd, 2016|

I am going to start this review off with a simple but true statement: If you are an Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) athlete that trains with weights and you are not using Fat Gripz, you are wrong. Fat Gripz turn every exercise into one that stresses your forearms. While you do not have to use weights to be a good OCR athlete, I am an advocate of incorporating at least some of them into your training because it provides a simple method for increasing stress on the body (ex. more weight makes things harder which creates physiological adaptation.

By |December 24th, 2015|

You may have or may not have noticed Storelli Bodyshield gear for sale on Tough Mudder's website recently. Originally designed for soccer players to prevent injuries, this gear is quickly making its way to the OCR scene.
