For the third year in a row, Greek Peak Mountain Resort has hosted the Spartan Winter Sprint. For many living on the east coast, this was the first event of their season.
Last Saturday saw the return of Grit OCR, an up-and-coming local OCR event here in the greater Los Angeles area brought to life last year by owners Antonio and Malorie Alletto. The inaugural event saw impressive numbers and reviews, and they were looking to build on that success this second time around. And build on it, they did.
This year, the Abominable Snow Race was held on top of a very big rock in Wisconsin known as Devil's Head ski resort. No Zumba class or Runga retreat would have ever prepared the couch dwellers for the snowy vertical madness that was unleashed upon the countless victims this early February.
Plenty of beautiful terrain awaited in the Spartan Arizona Sprint and Super courses, which varied from slight inclines and steep, hard declines, to beautiful sandy trenches and prickly bush juking.
The 2019 Spartan race season started with a bang last weekend in Chino, CA, with the SoCal Super and Sprint. With its flat, grassy straights and gentle, rolling hills, it's the perfect course to kick off the new year. Read more about Daniel Ludwig's thougths on this year's Super course.

I’ve only done a handful of local races, meaning races that are annual or semi-annual events, not put on by the national race promoters. This one was different though. The Parkland Soldier Rush was very much what I would call a hyper-local race, a community race which had the feel of a community get together [...]
