Race Recap: Bonefrog Challenge Heads to North Carolina

By |November 28th, 2017|

The first question I asked BoneFrog founder Brian Carney this year was “why the switch to North Carolina”?  His response: “We looked at the demographics and saw that the majority of runners at the South Carolina event came from the North Carolina/Charlotte area, so it made sense to bring the race to the runners”.  Fair enough!

Especially in the Midwest where when the temps drop and the mud dries up the majority of the obstacle course races head West or South.  Fear, not mud runners, Viking Dash is here to help fill the winter OCR blues.

By |November 17th, 2017|

On November 4th, 2017 a large portion of the OCR community ended their season at the South Carolina Beast, a 12+ Mile course that lived up to the Beast name. Having changed venues midway through the year, the switch caused a lot of confusion for those expecting to return to Carolina Adventure World for another year.

Race Recap: Houston Tough Mudder 2017 – Creekside Offroad

By |November 16th, 2017|

Another Mudder down, and I can honestly it was the best Tough Mudder event I have been to so far. While the Mudder Village may have been smaller than usual, every other aspect of the race is exactly what I would expect from an OCR.  The course itself was the best course I’ve run, and the spectator course as well was very efficiently done.

Race Recap: Spartan Race Tri State Super

By |November 10th, 2017|

In March I started my 2017 OCR season freezing my butt off at Greek Peak doing a Spartan Race Sprint in 10 degrees with the ground covered in ice and this past weekend I saw it come to an end in Vernon New Jersey at the Spartan Race Super amongst the beautiful changing leaves. If there is one thing  I learned I’ll need to do if I plan on continuing to race (which I do) ..is I may want to consider investing in some climbing gear and incorporate it into my training.

Race Recap: Tough Mudder Half SoCal

By |November 9th, 2017|

Over the weekend I embarked on a journey known as the Tough Mudder. Many are familiar with this race brand and continue to associate it with pain, torment, toughness and sheer badassery. I will start by saying that this may be the case with most Tough Mudder's/ Toughest Mudders and World's Toughest Mudders, but today I was pleasantly surprised with - dare I say it - how easy and laid back the Tough Mudder Half was.
