Each lap of approximately 5 miles featured three different loops; Technical, Strength, and Speed. Each of those loops needed to be completed in order, and only the final number of loops completed by the time cut-off at 2pm on Sunday, there were no partial miles awarded for any unfinished laps. Each obstacle must be completed within 3 tries or penalty lap/exercise was incurred.
My first Strong Viking Run in 2017. I planned to do a total of 3 distances in one weekend, 19+7km on Saturday and another 19km on Sunday, even though I was still recovering from an elbow/wrist injury. Hey, if the bone doesn't punch through then there's no reason not to try right?
Macon Mud Run is held it's 5th annual event on April 1, 2017, which is a fundraiser for the Hephzibah Children’s Home. They advertise having more than 100 mud pits, and while I can't confirm that number is 100% accurate, I can say it does have the most mud of any race I have ever done. Here is our quick overview and recap of the race
This year Tough Mudder has introduced a new race series called “Toughest” Mudder. These are meant to be mini-World’s Toughest Mudders and can bridge the gap between 10-mile Tough Mudder’s and the 24-hour World’s Toughest Mudder (WTM).
This St. Patrick’s Day weekend at Lee Farms in Tualatin, Oregon - couples, families, and friends escaped the cliche and got down and dirty at the Dirty Leprechaun 5k Mud Run hosted by Terrapin Events.
Spartan Race held its first Winter race in the United States this past Saturday. Greek Peak, located in upstate New York, hosted the event while also leaving most of its mountain open for skiers and snowboarders. After a week of temperatures in the upper 50’s, arctic air moved in on Friday to create a frigid setup for a 3.7-mile Sprint Race. More than 3500 Spartans braved the conditions for the race.
Bermuda has been known for decades as a destination vacation spot for people around the world. The small island nation is a simple flight from eastern United States cities and because of trade winds offers a warm and inviting climate. For decades the island was known to be a playground for only the wealthy over the past decade the country has tried to reshape the vision of who they are to the world. Today Bermuda wants to be one of the top sporting destinations in the world and the Bermuda Triple Challenge is helping to change the island's image.
Even though the temperature dipped to a frosty -23 degrees, it did not cool the excitement that was building at the Eagle’s Nest racing event -Ragnarok. This prime location is situated in the heart of Smiths Falls, Ontario and the race offered three separate events; a family heat starting at 4 PM where groups could work their way through the 5-6KM course under sunny skies and receive a beautiful carved stone medal.
I had high hopes for my second Bonefrog Race ever - both for myself and the Race Series. Having competed in their Florida event in 2016 (albeit a different venue) I was curious to see what changes and improvements Bonefrog had made.
