Why I Saw a Running Coach

By |September 25th, 2018|

In the past year, or so, I've been upping my OCR game: more events, longer events, and more miles. For the most part, things have gone smoothly. I like to think that I'm pretty in tune with my body and that I'm a good listener when it comes to hearing what my body needs. Like most of us, I have a full-time job, kids, and other responsibilities that limit my training opportunities, but I do the best I can with what I have.

By |August 22nd, 2018|

Mandatory obstacle completion (MOC) courses like North American Obstacle Course Racing Championship (NORAM) are designed to challenge you. If you are not highly proficient at obstacles or have never had to do a MOC course, you may have found yourself stuck at an obstacle. Add in some bad weather like rain and the exhaustion of climbing a mountain and your race may not have gone according to plan. So what now?

Preparing for 48 Hours of OCR: Mental Strength

By |August 20th, 2018|

Last week I covered what I am physically doing to prepare for Endure The Gauntlet, but that is only half the equation or less as you. I touched on mental strength a little last week with “motivation”, but if you haven’t faced similar challenges, you are going to need a lot more motivation to overcome some of these problems.

Why I Will Finally Focus on Recovery – Stretch Base/Restore Cryotherapy

By |August 1st, 2018|

I’ve never done any of the typical recovery you hear. I don’t stretch, I don’t roll anything out, I don’t cooldown run, I’ve never gotten a massage, et all. Then my friend Spencer texts me and asks if I want to check out this new recovery clinic he recently started working for in Austin. I figure, why the hell not. Cut to: Stretch Base / Restore Cryotherapy
