Opinion: The Olympics…or Maybe the X Games First

Let’s face it; our sport as it currently exists does not fit the Olympic mold. The courses, the obstacles, and the events have too much variation. There are distances from 1 mile to 24 hours and courses that have obstacles which are essentially glorified speed bumps to those with a 98% fail rate. The sport as it currently exists will never be in the Olympics, although a variation could be with standardized distances

Race Recap: Spartan Race Canada Owl’s Head

As the racing season swings into high gear, we traveled 4 hours East to Owl’s Head in Mansonville, Quebec, Canada for the Spartan weekend. This challenging location offers a vertical incline of 540 m (1,770 feet) with a top elevation of 756 m (2, 480 feet). The base elevation alone is 216 m (709 feet).

US OCR Champs 15k Map Puzzle

While the map dropped on USOCRC's Facebook page earlier today, there was very little info on how to "move" the pieces to see more of the map, and apparently that's still a mystery that founder Adrian Bijanada is keeping mostly mum about. We do know from the past that Adrian likes to tie in reveals of this sort with challenges, contests, donations to charity, obstacle reveals, etc. and today's release is no exception - kicking off brand new 10% discounts for Pro (MRG10PRO) and Age Group (MRG10) divisions.

Spartan Race Golden State Classic Results

Spartan Race made the second stop on the Spartan U.S. Championship Tour over the weekend. The 8.5 mile Super proved to be fast and furious for the top athletes. Hobie Call in his last year of competitive racing took first place for men (also winning the master's division at the same time). On the women's side, it was Nicole Mericle, who picked up her first U.S. Championships win.

Spartan Race Monterey Elite Women’s Video Highlights

Monterey, California was the second stop for the Spartan Race U.S. Championship Tour this past weekend. In the women's race, Nicole Mericle pulled our her first U.S. Championship Tour win beating out Lindsey Webster on the last couple obstacles. Alyssa Hawley finished third.
