My first Strong Viking Run in 2017. I planned to do a total of 3 distances in one weekend, 19+7km on Saturday and another 19km on Sunday, even though I was still recovering from an elbow/wrist injury. Hey, if the bone doesn't punch through then there's no reason not to try right?
Badass Women in the OCR community come from all different backgrounds and varying levels of fitness and stamina. Let me tell you a bit more about Lulu Spitzer. She is 61 years old, has ended the 2016 Spartan Season with 5 Spartan Trifecta’s and shows no signs of slowing down. She is ranked # 1 in her age group and took 8th place overall for open female, and 28th overall in the open division.
Yesterday, participants who signed up for Dirty Girl Mud Run in Atlanta received the news that their event had been postponed indefinitely. In the email listed below Dirty Girl Mud Run stated they have shifted focus. The remaining Dirty Girl Mud Run events for 2017 will be held on ski resorts to create a women's weekend getaway around the race.
Relay obstacle racing is coming to Europe with the Shardana Challenge in Olbia, California this weekend. In addition to the race, The FIOCR (Italian OCR Federation) will be hosting a European OCR Alliance Summit with several countries in attendance. There they will be working on rules for European OCR racing and to further develop obstacle racing in Europe.
United States Obstacle Course Racing Championships, is proud to announce the addition of Warrior Dash to their 2017 Combo Ticket event lineup. Macon Mud Run is held it's 5th annual event on April 1, 2017, which is a fundraiser for the Hephzibah Children’s Home. They advertise having more than 100 mud pits, and while I can't confirm that number is 100% accurate, I can say it does have the most mud of any race I have ever done. This year Tough Mudder has introduced a new race series called “Toughest” Mudder. These are meant to be mini-World’s Toughest Mudders and can bridge the gap between 10-mile Tough Mudder’s and the 24-hour World’s Toughest Mudder (WTM).
The Northman Race is the brainchild of former Olympian turned obstacle racing athlete and race director Marco Bedard. Bedard has created an event which hones in on honoring his and many other Canadians ancestors in the logging and forestry industry. The Northman Race is set to debut this spring featuring obstacles and challenges that not too long ago was normal life for many people.
Yesterday, Tough Mudder teased a new event for the obstacle course racing series. Mud Run Guide got a sneak peak at the new event in advance of the April 1st announcement. Move over Tougher Mudder, Toughest Mudder, and World's Toughest Mudder there is a new event in town for April 1. Get ready for Puppy Mudder from Tough Mudder presented by Nulo Pet Food.
