Ultra Race Recap: Dr. Redtights Takes on SB100

The SB100 was a rough introduction to the world of ultra running. My facetious but true statement when people would ask me if I had run a 100 before was, "I have never run a race without obstacles more than 13.1 miles." Of course, I decided to change that by running one of the hardest 100 milers in Southern California. Here's how it went (spoiler, the kitty was a lie):

Race Recap: Spartan Race Indiana Sprint 2016

The initial reactions were negative, there was no way they found a venue that would be more challenging than Haspin which was often regarded as one of the toughest sprints and also, what was the deal with moving the event to a site that is actually far closer to Cincinnati, OH than it is to Indianapolis as the name implies?

DON DEVANEY – ASPIRING TO INSPIRE

If you have been in the world of endurance sports within the OCR community, you already know Don Devaney. Or at least – you know what he has let you know of him. I have watched on several occasions, some of the toughest athletes I know, turn tail in fear at the mere sound of his booming voice coming closer. Race Recap: Indian Mud Run 2016

That was an interesting way of looking at the event for the day; the Indian Mud Run in Coshocton, Ohio. Held at the Coshocton City and County Park, today was the setting for an epic OCR event. Located east of Columbus and south of Cleveland; this venue allowed for competitors to attend from multiple directions. The drive-in was as much as a challenge as the course was. Rally racers dream as the windy country roads twisted and turned all the way to the park.

The first thing to know about WTM is that you do not need a pit crew to compete, but pit crew is very helpful.

Why Are There So Few College Age OCR Athletes?

There are massive amounts of young individuals out there, full of energy and ambition that have yet to participate in obstacle racing. For someone who wants to create exposure for the sport; and get college students out of bars and parties and on to the obstacle course, the low participation numbers are frustrating.
