2017 Icebug Acceleritas5 First Test

By |March 22nd, 2017|

The upper materials have been updated to a super soft and airy textile, so light and smooth it feels like being barefoot. The water pickup is minimal, the drainage is excellent and hence the wet weight is almost as low as when it’s dry. The midsole is very flexible and keeps the weight down. The height of the heel cup is slightly reduced in order to reduce pressure at the Achilles tendon. Terrain feel is remarkable thanks to the low profile of the sole.

By |March 2nd, 2017|

I've been testing Mudgear Compression Socks and 1/4 Trail Socks for quite some time now, and they've become my go-to sock for everyday activities, training, & racing. Heck, I'm even wearing them now while writing this!

Race Recap: Green Beret Challenge – Mountain Home, TX

By |March 1st, 2017|

It’s a new race season, and what better way to kick it off than by running a race that: I have never done before and at a venue that has never hosted an OCR before. Top that off with one of the top athletes in the sport being there and the venue also being the host of the upcoming US OCR Championship, you have a great recipe for a hell of a Saturday.

Opinion: Do Championships Need to Move?

By |January 27th, 2017|

2017’s OCR Championships line-up is scheduled to be the same. World’s Toughest Mudder will be in Las Vegas for its fourth year, Spartan Race in Tahoe for its third year and OCR World Championship in Blue Mountain Canada for its second year. While some were ecstatic at the news, others seemed disappointed hoping for a new venue. I even heard several “Well it has to move overseas otherwise it is not a real world championship” and "They need to change locations next year."

Badass Women of OCR: Allison Tai

By |January 19th, 2017|

From surviving a road biking accident that left her with many broken bones, to nursing her children while on the course it seems like there is nothing that Allison can’t or won’t do. I have the honor of interviewing her for this piece, as everyone has their “layers”. Allison is a super nice person, but when it comes down to her coaching and training, she is not afraid to push you outside of your comfort zone.

Gear Review – Wear Bands

By |January 3rd, 2017|

It’s difficult to begin speaking about a product that has nothing like it on the market. I can’t say – “Hey everyone! Here’s a new version of ‘bleh’ that you can try out in its new and improved form!”. With that, I’m just going to jump into it and tell you all about my experience with Wear Bands. First off, I’ve had this for about 6 weeks now. I’ve put this through some strenuous testing in every possible way I could think of, and I’ve intentionally not been nice to the equipment.
