This is a post towards anyone who went through the brutal 24-hour obstacle course race that was World’s Toughest Mudder (WTM) 2018 in Atlanta Georgia, where we had sub-freezing temperatures and layers of ice on obstacles left and right. However, I think it’s generalizable to many other difficult challenges.
The 8th annual World's Toughest Mudder took place over the weekend outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Nearly 1,700 athletes from all around the world converged to tackle not only obstacles but also the weather for a grueling 24 hours of racing. Merriam-Webster defines a sport as "a contest or game in which people do certain physical activities according to a specific set of rules and compete against each other". They also describe it in general as "a physical activity (such as hunting, fishing, running, swimming, etc.) that is done for enjoyment." In the broader sense then, obstacle course racing (OCR) is obviously a physical activity…hence a sport.
Aaron Singleton and I had been chatting online this summer quite a bit and decided it would be neat to collaborate on an article. I wanted to show how it felt to go from road runner to obstacle course racer, and how it felt to go from obstacle course racer to road runner.
When I think of sandbags and Obstacle Course Racing (OCR), there is only one brand that comes to mind, Wreck Bag. We look at a product to make the Wreck Bag even better, Wreck Ribs.
