I'll admit it: I had heard from a friend that Epic Series was an easy beginner race, so I was prepared to deal with an unorganized chaotic mess, as often times the new or beginner race companies are still learning the tricks of the trade. But as I embarked on my very first Epic Series Race this past Saturday, I was pleased to see that I was wrong. Epic Race was truly EPIC in deliverance.
Warrior Rush : Winter Soldier II. This is a winter race series brought to fruition by the sadistic minds of the Dirt Runner crew in Illinois. The best way to explain Dirt Runner would be to think of them as a 1991 Pearl Jam as if Pearl Jam only ever played in one venue.
The XX RACE is an indoor obstacle course race at the iMETTLE gym in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The entrance can be a bit hard to find as it is around the end of the warehouse that it shares with a Le Bus Bakery. The logo on the door was easy to see as you drive by though letting you know you had found the right place.
I must confess, I was extremely nervous that the December 9th, Los Angeles Spartan Sprint at Castaic Lake was going to be canceled. If you haven't seen the headlines from Southern California, wildfires have destroyed hundreds of miles of land and property. The wildfires have also wreaked havoc on the environment by dropping ash and making it hard to breathe.
Every year in early December thousands of obstacle course racers from all over Europe make their way to the small town Rudolstadt in Germany. But not to visit the nice Christmas markets with their mulled wine. They are on an annual pilgrimage to Getting Tough The Race, Germany's coldest and also toughest obstacle course race.
Second chances are sometimes second nature. Redemption is a dream open and desired by all. Tonight, the men got that opportunity to meet again for a shot at the Skullbuster and $25,000. What they didn’t get was a second chance at beating Hunter McIntyre. To some that may feel more like purgatory than the ultimate victory throne.
This past weekend I completed what was my final race of 2017: The Arctic Dash at Camp Kern in Oregonia, Ohio. It's a bittersweet feeling to see December come knowing this will be my last OCR hoorah before the long cold months of off-season training. 2017 was a good year and I wasn't ready for it to end, so I looked for one more race to fill the calendar and found the Arctic Dash right in my backyard.
This is my review of a race I've been hearing good things about for quite some time now. This past Saturday I thought I'd take a trip out to Irvine Lake to see what all the fuss was around Terrain Race. I got there about 7am and was pleased to see the parking was situated right near the entrance!!!
As one of the biggest ultra-obstacle course races, World's Toughest Mudder (WTM) frequently is the highlight and peak of people's racing year. As someone who specializes in the toughest and longest events, that puts WTM at the top of my racing calendar and I structure the rest of my year around preparing for this race. However, things went a little differently this year.
The final Savage Race weekend of 2018 started out with A bang.... literally. Just after the finish of the national anthem and thousands of people all around, the United States Army fired off a cannon into the air to start the final race of the 2017 season at the Little Everglades Ranch in Dade City, Florida home of Savage Race for the past several years.
