Week #2 – I’m a Runner, Not a Hood Ornament

For the umpteenth time, I was nearly killed by a car running a stop sign. Now, I've been actually hit and thrown across a hood at least twice in the past, and have been extremely lucky to avoid injury. Learning from those experiences, I now take a great deal of caution at intersections. Last night, if I took one more step I'd be extremely lucky to be writing this, and most likely would be doing so from a hospital bed. There's a good chance I may even be dead.

Opinion: What Makes a Spartan Racer?

Spartan Race is a physical and mental challenge. It is also a test of one’s character. The rules of Spartan Race are tough, but clear. No outside assistance. No cutting distance. Attempt every obstacle. If you fail an obstacle, do 30 burpees. Fail the burpees? Resign from the race. These clearly stated rules make the completion of the race an intense challenge, and victory a true accomplishment. This is no “fun run,” this is a test of your overall fortitude, and you pay to endure it.

365 Sports Inc. and Crazy Canuck Events have announced Tuesday, January 17th that they will be merging their efforts to bring Mud Hero to Canadians nationwide. 365 Sports Inc has acquired 52% of Crazy Canuck Events marking the largest merger in the Canadian OCR industry. Crazy Canucks has been bringing Mud Hero to adults and kids with 6km and 10km obstacle courses coast to coast. Mud Hero continues to be a favorite Canadian obstacle race series.

Race Recap: Epic Series Season Finale – Hardest Challenge of the Year.

The Epic Series OCR challenge on December 17th was the final race of the year in San Diego. This would be my 3rd time this year competing in one of their events. This event was going to be the hardest one to date. For me, a master’s level competitor at 45yrs of age Epic series in 2016 has continued to offer an elite wave for anyone 40+ years of age for their open course challenge. This year I have had some success by reaching the podium three times on the two previous races.
