2018 marks the first year Terrain Race has an event in both Denver and Colorado Springs. This was a brand-new race venue for participants and was a much different experience than the Spartan Fort Carson Honor Series from earlier in the year. Racers were introduced to new style obstacles, more mud than they had earlier in the year, and a fun family-oriented experience.
1,000's of people flocked to Flagstaff, Arizona to escape the heat of the valley and to compete in the Terrain Race on July 21st. While the valley hit temps of 116 degrees, Flagstaff was an absolutely beautiful 75 degrees.
Carter & Stevens farm hosted Savage Race last year and began hosting Spartan races in 2015, they have parking, festival area and clearing of the course down to a science. Prior to racing Savage on Saturday (say that five times fast) I've raced at this location about five times in the last three years. However, this was my very first Savage Race
Wet, muddy, humid and hilly. These four words perfectly describe the Terrain Race in Slinger, Wisconsin. This race was held at Little Switzerland, a small midwestern ski resort located about 30 miles northwest of Milwaukee. When we pulled up to the venue, the hills really did not seem too intimidating, especially considering the standard 5k distance of this race.

This article is going to discuss a few of those races. I live in the Northeast so the races that I have chosen are Bonefrog Challenge, Terrain Race, and Savage Race.
Muckfest MS was held on both Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10 at The Glen Mills Schools in Glen Mills and Thornbury Township Pennsylvania; we were there on Saturday. For those not familiar with the area, the venue is 30 miles outside Philadelphia and about an hour from my home in New Jersey. I raced with my twin sister Patti, my younger sister Chrissy and our friends Cara and Heather.
The Mogollon Monster Mudda 5k Mud Run has been held in Payson, Arizona every year since 2012 and has been rated "The most outstanding event in Arizona". This race is a local, inexpensive, family-friendly event that boasts over 40 obstacles and some challenging terrain.
