Rugged Maniac is a 5K (3.2 mile) obstacle course race that combines the most rugged terrain and burly obstacles to allow those with a sense of adventure to define themselves, then bask in glory at a rocking after party with live music, food and plenty of beer.

Help us minimize waste by wearing shoes and clothes that are easily cleaned, like spandex pants and sports bras for girls and board shorts and fitted tops for guys. Course Description:

This five kilometer course traverses some of the most rugged terrain southern California has to offer, including a mountain! We’ve amped it up with barbed wire, fire, tunnels, mud pits, pools of water, barricades, cargo nets, scrambles, swinging pendulums and a host of other obstacles that make this course one rugged gauntlet of glory!
Each Rugged Maniac features at least twenty obstacles constructed by an experienced crew of licensed contractors. These aren’t the pop-up kiddie obstacles you’ll see at other races. You’ll climb over walls up to 12’ high, crawl through mud under barbed wire, slide down a 50’ water slide, jump over fire and face many other challenges all while running through a combination of forests, fields, motocross tracks and ski slopes!

Aid Stations:

We provide water at one station halfway through the course and again at the finish line. We don't provide water to spectators or in the festival area generally. Water and other beverages will be available for purchase from vendors, but you can also bring in your own non-alcoholic beverages (no glass bottles).

Other:

Rinse-off station with cold water available for after you run
Water obstacles are no more than 4 feet deep
You're free to go around any obstacles you can't get over or don't want to do, but you won't be eligible to win based on time
Event is timed with a RFID timing chip
Barefoot running is allowed, but you assume the risk of any injuries
Dogs are allowed if they are kept leashed at all times

Team:

Teams are allowed, but team times are not recorded. All racers are timed individually
