Obstacle racing has entered the dog days of summer as the racing season pushes on. Many of the familiar names took this last weekend off offering some new faces to reach the podium over the weekend as the sport inches closer to the world championship season this fall.

Summer is in full swing and things are heating up on the competitive racing circuit. One major competitive race dominated the OCR market over the weekend and some have dubbed it a preview of what is to come later this year when the championship circuit begins. Racers from around the world flocked to Palmerton, Pennsylvania for the Reebok Spartan Race Super on Blue Mountain.

Last weekend was one of the most action packed weekends of the summer for OCR. With the final Death Race happening in Pittsfield, Vermont, Toughest 24 in Sweden, Savage Race in Pennsylvania, and Spartan Race in both Utah and Minnesota. For the competitive obstacle racer there were tons of events to choose from.

This past weekend was another busy weekend in obstacle racing and the entire OCR industry. BattleFrog moved north up to New Jersey. Spartan Race was in both Boston and Dallas. Shale Hill celebrated Father's Day with a relay race, and Tough Mudder had participants climbing to new heights in British Columbia.

This weekend over forty mud runs and obstacle races will take place across the globe. A few of those events stand out in the United States and Canada this weekend in various parts of the country with Tough Mudder, Spartan Race, Shale Hill and BattleFrog all taking place this weekend.

All eyes this weekend were on Breckenridge Colorado at the Spartan Race Sprint. Athletes from around the world flew in to take on the event many were calling a World Championship matchup. Savage Race debuted a new obstacle in Ohio this weekend that had everyone swinging. Warrior Dash battled the rain in Illinois. As well as fifty other obstacle races and mud runs took place throughout the world. Be sure to check out the OCR World Standings and see where your favorite athletes stack up.
