Race Recap: Virginia Rugged Maniac

The race day weather in Virginia for the Rugged Maniac on Saturday, May 5th, 2018, was perfect. On this scenic day, it literally felt like an obstacle course racing family reunion, full of games like Cornhole, giant outdoor Beer Pong, fitness competitions, and food options galore. Sure, providing a festival area, which includes a mixture of activities at obstacle course races is nothing new.

Atkins and Kolbl Take Top Honors on 3rd Spartan U.S. National Series Stop

Top obstacle racers converged on Big Bear, California over the weekend for the third stop of the 2018 Spartan U.S. National Series. The two day even tested the athletes' strength and endurance with over $15,000 on the line in cash and prizes. The top honors went to Ryan Atkins and Rea Kolbl. Atkins bested the rest of the elite men's field by nearly three minutes and Kolbl bested Faye Stenning by nearly a minute to capture the win.

Race Recap: CerusRuk 2018 Colorado

CerusRuk is a 5-mile obstacle course race through a yak farm where racers are required to wear a 30lb rucksack as they traverse the course. This race was a unique blend of OCR, a ruck event, and a few Ninja Warrior style obstacles.

Spartan Expands Events with the Launch of Spartan South Africa

Spartan announced today the launch of the event companies first race in South Africa. The race is set to take place on October 27 outside of Johannesburg. With this announcement, Spartan will now host events on six continents. It was eight years ago today the first event took place outside of Burlington, Vermont.

Permanent OCR Facility Spotlight: Newbsanity

Whatever backyard setup you have for obstacle course racing it is nothing compared to the Newby family. The Newby’s have a full 5k OCR Newbsanity (plus 5k Extreme Ravine trail run across the street) to practice on daily. They not only use it for themselves but have created an obstacle racing facility for the community to explore, train, and race.
