Tornado warnings, torrential downpour and high winds couldn't stop us from setting up the OCR Warrior course, and we could barely slow down the lines of athletes looking to take on the updated Skull Valley and new Hang 10 obstacles. Only the top 10 qualifiers with the fastest times will move on to the Knockout Rounds - let's see who's got the right stuff!
One of the most talked about performances of the day came from fourteen-year-old wunderkind Nathen Snyder, who also completed four incredible laps in the BattleFrog Extreme Race (BFX) and, amazingly, appeared ready for more when the BFX clock expired.

Matt has fought brilliantly in his matchups to reach the finals, while Brakken has nearly defied physics with his record-crusing times. Who will emerge as the OCR Warrior Champion for San Antonio?
The Play Pen is a relatively new Obstacle Course Training Camp that opened in November 2014 and is operated by Coach Quentin Pullen or Coach “Q” as he is known in the OCR Community, an SGX certified trainer and works in conjunction with The YMCA Located in beautiful Newport Beach overlooking the lagoons of Orange County. The camp is open daily and holds boot camp/ CrossFit sessions regularly throughout the week. The Play Pen includes obstacles such as tire jumps, a gut checker, an 8ft wall, hurdles, rope climbs, a cargo climb, a multi rig and a low crawl. On August 2nd, The Play Pen held its inaugural event “Battle on The Bay”. Six OCR Teams from the Southern California area came together to go head to head to see who is the baddest OCR Team in West.
The OCR industry has been tightening their belts in 2015. Across the industry companies are looking to operate both effectively and efficiently in order to stay in business for the long term. Most of the time this gives the participants the best event at the best cost to them. However, what is the downside when companies strive for growth and efficiency too quickly? What happens when companies mandate quicker build times for the guys on the ground?
Jesse "Every Day" Daily comes off a strong showing in Knockout Round #1, after being the final athlete in qualifying to make the cut. He's matched up in KO Round #2 against the brutally efficient Brakken Kraker, a Spartan Race Pro Team member who has absolutely bent this OCR Warrior course to his will with the record-shattering :58 qualifying time. Can Jesse outlast or outwit Brakken to get to the finals?
Weddings are the ultimate sign of commitment for a couple. The special day is often a gathering of family and friends joining together two people or two families. Each couple makes the experience unique to them. Most pick a venue, food, and clothing that expresses who they are as a couple. Some are choosing to truly express who they are through non-traditional wedding.
I pride myself in not being just someone that runs the larger OCR company races, but also goes to the less known and what some would consider less challenging (not me) obstacle courses.
Bloodied and bruised, the Women's Final is down to Spartan Race course builder Leah Land and former BattleFrog race manager Jennifer Klentzman. While their hands are destroyed from multiple trips through the course in qualifying and Knockout Round #1, these ladies will give it their all for the right to be called OCR Warrior San Antonio Champion!
