The 15K classic distance at the OCR World Championships is set to take place on Saturday. For many athletes, this is the race they spend the whole year training for, whether they are in the pro or age group divisions. This year over sixty-seven nations will be represented and competition is getting more intense each year.
OCR World Championships brings back the Short Course Championships with another obstacle-filled 3-kilometer race. The short and fast course will feature over fourteen obstacles. The course features signature obstacles from brands around the world.

Spartan Race crowns Cody Moat and Lindsay Webster as the 2017 Spartan Race World Champions after a grueling 16+ mile course. Athletes from over thirty countries battled it out today on the iconic Squaw Valley ski resort outside of Lake Tahoe.
This could finally be Lindsay’s year, make no mistake. Barring another episode of barbed-wire hair-gate or some other unforeseeable calamity, the Canadian badass with the perma-smile will likely be standing atop the ladies’ podium when the dust (snow?) settles.
On the heels of the Spartan Race World Championships Men to Watch, I wanted to weigh in on how things could shake out on Saturday. This year will be the last of 3 consecutive SRWCs held at the beautiful and epic Lake Tahoe venue.

When Ian Panter decided to go to Tough Mudder Philadelphia he had a crazy weekend planned in late May. Saturday Tough Mudder Philly then finish it off with the 8 hour Toughest Mudder that night. Unfortunately, the weekend didn’t end as planned. Leaving the Saturday morning venue after finishing Tough Mudder he was involved in a serious car accident putting him in a coma.

Let’s face it; our sport as it currently exists does not fit the Olympic mold. The courses, the obstacles, and the events have too much variation. There are distances from 1 mile to 24 hours and courses that have obstacles which are essentially glorified speed bumps to those with a 98% fail rate. The sport as it currently exists will never be in the Olympics, although a variation could be with standardized distances
