Race Recap: Terrain Race-Chandler, AZ

By |November 6th, 2018|

The Terrain Race in Chandler, Arizona was 3.2 miles of pure mud! This race was held on the grounds of Raw Hide, a special event venue located about 20 miles south of Phoenix.  Terrain has changed a few things up over the last few months and one of the first things that I noticed was that the starting line no longer took place in the infamous pools.

Race Recap: Warrior Dash Colorado 2018

By |September 19th, 2018|

The weather has been unseasonably warm in Colorado during the month of September and that set things up for a beautiful day for Warrior Dash. Even the competitive wave that set off at 8 am was greeted by temperatures in the mid-70s and anyone who ran between 12-2 had to deal with temperatures reaching almost 90. This made all the water obstacles and the mud pit at the end feel so much better.

Race Recap: Rugged Maniac Denver

By |August 17th, 2018|

Rugged Maniac Denver has become a tradition for myself and a small group of friends. After being forced off the course last year due to lightning and even having the beer tent and festival area closed we were excited to get back out there this year.

Race Recap: Terrain Race Colorado Springs 2018

By |August 8th, 2018|

2018 marks the first year Terrain Race has an event in both Denver and Colorado Springs. This was a brand-new race venue for participants and was a much different experience than the Spartan Fort Carson Honor Series from earlier in the year. Racers were introduced to new style obstacles, more mud than they had earlier in the year, and a fun family-oriented experience.

Terrain Race: Slinger, Wisconsin

By |July 18th, 2018|

Wet, muddy, humid and hilly.  These four words perfectly describe the Terrain Race in Slinger, Wisconsin.  This race was held at Little Switzerland, a small midwestern ski resort located about 30 miles northwest of Milwaukee.  When we pulled up to the venue, the hills really did not seem too intimidating, especially considering the standard 5k distance of this race.

Race Recap: Spartan Race DC Sprint

By |July 13th, 2018|

My apologies for being late to the party with this Spartan Sprint race recap outside of Washington DC. Unfortunately, I’m not independently wealthy and I’ve yet to find anyone interested in sponsoring a recreational but also average OCR athlete. In other words, I’ve been out of town traveling for work.
