Spartan Race Introduces Spartan Ultra Events to Replace Ultra Beast

The Ultra Beast was first introduced by Spartan Race in 2012 at Killington, Vermont. Instead of just one lap on the famed beast course, competitors completed two laps in one day. The Ultra Beast has become a defining option in obstacle racing for the endurance enthusiast. In 2018, the Spartan Race Ultra Beast has been rebranded as simply the Spartan Race Ultra. This new designation places the Spartan Race Ultra in its own category, giving the race its own identity.

Race Recap: Spartan Race Super at Mountain Creek Resort 2017

partan Race held a Super at Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon, New Jersey this past Saturday.  The Elite and Competitive waves began with temperatures in the mid-30s.  Spartans were decked out in extra layers in preparation for the cold temperatures.  The course was just under 9 miles in length, featuring 25 obstacles well placed on the course.

In March I started my 2017 OCR season freezing my butt off at Greek Peak doing a Spartan Race Sprint in 10 degrees with the ground covered in ice and this past weekend I saw it come to an end in Vernon New Jersey at the Spartan Race Super amongst the beautiful changing leaves. If there is one thing  I learned I’ll need to do if I plan on continuing to race (which I do) ..is I may want to consider investing in some climbing gear and incorporate it into my training.
