With it being the Spartan Race World Championships week we had to share for this Training Tuesday the spear throw. The spear throw is one of the few obstacles in the Spartan Race lineup that really requires a lot of skill and sometimes a little patience.

Spartan Race Adds Sprint and AGOGE to Iceland

Earlier this year Spartan Race announced a 24-hour Ultra Beast Championship in Iceland, December 14 - 17, 2017. Now Spartan Race is giving fans two more reasons to head to Iceland in December, for a sprint or an AGOGE. Spartan Race will be hosting a sprint distance race during the four hours of daylight, giving fans not yet ready for 24-hours a reason to make the trip to the iconic country. Additionally, for athletes looking for a different type of challenge a 60-hour AGOGE will be held the same weekend.

Randy Moss Returns to West Virginia to Host Benefit Race for The Spartan Foundation

Football legend Randy Moss is set to host a benefit Spartan Race in West Virginia for the Spartan Foundation. The event is set to take place ahead of the last stop on the 2017 Spartan Race US Championship Tour. The event is set to take place on August 25, 2017.

Cue lovely stringed music and…a promise that bonds will grow stronger between team members, brothers, teams, and families. So whose bonds proved victorious? In heat 1 we had Saddle Up, Mathletes, and Ninjas. Heat 2 had the Better Halves, Kid Courage, and Stunt Junkies. In honor of the bond I have with my son who is a physics and math major, I went with the Mathletes in Heat 1. For the bond I have with my own autistic youngest son, I went with Kid Courage in Heat 2.

After each Spartan event, I vow to never do another. I cuss the entire up hill climb and curse as I descend carrying a bucket full of rocks or a sandbag draped across my shoulders. And yet, once again, I found myself lined up waiting for our release onto the mountain to begin the dreaded climb that at times felt relentless. We opted for the competitive wave to get onto the course before the afternoon heat set in and headed off at 0900hrs.
