Take a look back at the highs and lows of running the Terrain Race in Flagstaff!
The Terrain Race in Chandler, Arizona was 3.2 miles of pure mud! This race was held on the grounds of Raw Hide, a special event venue located about 20 miles south of Phoenix. Terrain has changed a few things up over the last few months and one of the first things that I noticed was that the starting line no longer took place in the infamous pools.
Earlier this year, I had what felt like a chance in a lifetime to interview Mariane Lirio. Me reaching out had a lot to do with how impressed I was with Mariane Lirio in the OCR circuit. Do any of you know of a Mariane Lirio? Or, better question, how many of us sleep on the prowess most women have in the OCR industry?
If you follow my OCR antics, you know I’m a huge fan of Terrain Race. Not only are there three events per year within driving distance of my home, but the value participants also receive from the event are one of the best bargains in OCR.
2018 marks the first year Terrain Race has an event in both Denver and Colorado Springs. This was a brand-new race venue for participants and was a much different experience than the Spartan Fort Carson Honor Series from earlier in the year. Racers were introduced to new style obstacles, more mud than they had earlier in the year, and a fun family-oriented experience.
1,000's of people flocked to Flagstaff, Arizona to escape the heat of the valley and to compete in the Terrain Race on July 21st. While the valley hit temps of 116 degrees, Flagstaff was an absolutely beautiful 75 degrees.
Wet, muddy, humid and hilly. These four words perfectly describe the Terrain Race in Slinger, Wisconsin. This race was held at Little Switzerland, a small midwestern ski resort located about 30 miles northwest of Milwaukee. When we pulled up to the venue, the hills really did not seem too intimidating, especially considering the standard 5k distance of this race.
I had the opportunity this summer to take my daughter with me to various races and experience how a few different companies execute their kid's races. This article is going to discuss a few of those races. I live in the Northeast so the races that I have chosen are Bonefrog Challenge, Terrain Race, and Savage Race.
I ran my first Terrain Racing event last weekend, competing in the competitive division and opted-in for an extra lap in the mid-morning heavy Tennessee heat. While my experience was largely positive overall, a number of hiccups along the way highlighted the brand’s growing pains.
Terrain Race is definitely worth checking out – not just for the absolute steal of a deal, but also for its challenging obstacles and the coveted monkey medal waiting for you at the end of your adventure.
