OCR News Weekly – June 30, 2017

Welcome to OCR News Weekly. Today is Friday, June 30, 2017. I am Margaret Schlachter and thanks for joining the live broadcast or for those listening on their favorite player our recast. Today’s headlines come from Rugged Maniac, Spartan Race, and OCR European Championships.

We start this week with Rugged Maniac

Yesterday Rugged Maniac announced a change to their refund policy now offering full refunds to participants who are unable to attend an event for any reason. The bold move by Rugged Maniac is a first for a major North American OCR company. Any ticket bought after June 28, 2017, from the Rugged Maniac website is eligible under the new policy. This policy does not include tickets bought under Groupon or other third party deals.

Overall participants around the industry are rejoicing at the new policy and many are looking to add another Rugged Maniac to their schedule. For more information check out our story today on Mud Run Guide.

Our Next Story comes from Spartan Race

Spartan Race is headed back to Edinbourgh, Scotland. On July  22nd and 23rd the beautiful Edinburgh hills will turn from a scene of peaceful tranquillity into a muddy stomping ground Spartan Race. The weekend is set to offer a Sprint, Beast and Ultra Beast for participants.
UK Managing  Marketing Director Sam Young said this of the event:

“It is always a pleasure to host events in areas of such natural beauty. Especially when we can combine it with an event that pushes each individual to their personal limits. Racers will no doubt find themselves drawn into the picturesque surroundings of Spittal Farm which boasts stunning scenery. We’ve been delighted to see the UK races progressing so well and have no doubt this race will make a fantastic buzz, not only for those taking part, but also the beautiful city of Edinburgh.”

Our Last Story is from Europe

OCR European Championships are taking place this weekend in the Netherlands put on by the European Obstacle Sports Federation. The series of championship races are currently taking place in the Netherlands with the short course today, standard course Saturday and Sunday the team event. Mud Run Guide has the live feed of the weekend on our website. Tune into all the coverage there.
