Family First at Conquer The Gauntlet

Conquer The Gauntlet is one of the nation’s oldest multi-state OCR series.  The race company, founded by the Mainprizes (David, Steve and his wife Courtney), have a huge fan following in the Midwest.  Since 2012, they have expanded every year adding more venues in more locations.

Spartan Race returned again this year to a very familiar venue, Killington Resort, nestled high in the mountains of Vermont.  What was once home to the Spartan World Championship race is now a more obtainable opportunity for many OCR athletes in the Northeast to complete their coveted Spartan trifecta.  The course in years past was 16+ miles with many thousands of feet elevation gain.

This past weekend I traveled up to beautiful Seattle, WA to participate in my first ever Tough Mudder event. My grandparents even flew out from Michigan to cheer me on throughout the course! With this being my first Tough Mudder event I wasn’t too sure what to expect.

Maryland International Speedway hosted a Spartan Race Sprint race this past Saturday and Sunday.  The combined totals for the weekend were about 7,500 participants.  The weather was certainly not a problem, as plenty of sunshine and cooler temperatures made for a very pleasant weekend.

In the first weekend of September, the best Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) athletes gathered from across America to a small town outside of San Antonio, Texas. Some 11,000 athletes made their way to southern West Virginia this past weekend for the Spartan Trifecta weekend.  On Saturday, the Beast hosted many of the sports finest athletes of the sport as NBC Sports covered the event.

Continuing with my recent trend of great back-to-the-roots races, I attended the Nightmare Challenge last weekend in Nashport, OH. It was a race that I would honestly have been unaware of had it not been featured as the final race of the Ohio OCR Grand Slam and was brought to my attention by a trainer at the gym I attend.
