Wetsuits are normally reserved for activities like swimming, scuba diving, surfing, triathlon or other amphibious activities. Most people use them as an extra layer of warmth while getting outdoors and getting some exercise in lakes and the ocean. However, in the obstacle racing world, we have found a unique and alternative use for a wetsuit and it plays a vital roll in some races such as Tough Mudder'sWorlds Toughest Mudder.
How on earth could a garment made from ground up spent coffee beans and used plastic bottles be even remotely comfortable much less possess advanced sweat-wicking and drying technology, and be pliable for all day athletic wear? Youd be mighty surprised - I was!
Spartan Race stepped out of the comfort zone hosting the second Atlanta Super this year at a new venue, Lake Lanier Islands in Buford, GA. The course featured the standard 29 obstacles over 9.3 miles wound in and along the edges of the island. It was very different than I’ve seen from Spartan before, and it turned out to be quite a treat.

There is nothing more frustrating than when you tear your callous or pop a blister and experience that raw, stinging discomfort that will ultimately sideline you for a few days while your body works to heal itself.

They went from three event types (Half, Tough Mudder and World’s Toughest Mudder (WTM)) to a full lineup of seven events (TMX, 5k, Half, Full, Tougher, Toughest, and WTM) including seven CBS Televised episodes. Last week, some very well-known coaches in OCR got into the BSRC men’s division debate. The focus was on who can beat Hunter and what would it take (besides beating a time of 6:01). The viewpoint of the coach was one we don’t see often. But I follow these guys closely and pick up any tidbit of info I can to improve my own game. At 55 years of age, I’m not out to pick off the Sheriff. But I am in it to stay in it for the long haul.
