OCR, Road and Trail: My Complementary Variety Pack

If booking weekend getaway excursions that incorporate race events were a recognized sport itself, then I would podium every weekend. A bold and confident statement to make, but one I stand behind. Much as a wolf studies and hunts its prey, I’ve mastered the “hunt of a new race venue” and have countless race experiences I continue to tuck away in my race cap, ever on the search, ever on the prowl.

OCR European Championships Launched

OCR Europe reported yesterday about a new European Championships coming in 2016. The OCR European Championships, according to the event website, are the independent Obstacle Course Racing Championships for Europe. The Championships are alternately hosted by different OCR event organizers and governed and administered by an Alliance of European OCR Associations.

Race Recap: Spartan Race Asheville

Spartan made its first appearance in the Asheville area in Black Mountain, NC today using The Grove Sand & Stone Company as its location. There was plenty of parking relatively close to the start line and the festival area was also nicely spread out on this beautiful property. The scenery was amazing.

Last Week in OCR: All About Albon

Happy Labor Day. A quiet weekend in obstacle racing in the United States but in Europe it was another story. Both Toughest Oslo and Spartan Race European Championships took place. Stateside Spartan Race had it's first College Classic race at Cornell University.

Race Recap: Tough Mudder – Pittsburgh

It goes without saying, when you hear the name “Tough Mudder” you picture getting down and dirty. The Pittsburgh event for my second year in a row has delivered big time, only in two different ways. Last year’s event located at Powerline Park, in Southeastern Ohio, was mud drenched throughout the course. It was my first try at any OCR and I thought they would all be as muddy. Unfortunately however, I was wrong. Most of the Tough Mudders this year in the Mid-Atlantic have been on the dry side with spots of mud only here and there, leaving Mudders with a thirst for more mud in their mouth.
