Sport Specific Training And OCR

The principle of Specificity has been a long followed dogma in the field of sports performance. You may then ask the question, “how can I apply this sport-specific training idea to a sport like Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) where I don’t know what the course will look like until sometimes just a day before the event?” I contend that you know a lot more about that race than you probably realize and taking what you do know and applying that can help a lot when it comes to putting together a training program.

Savage Race Introduces SavagePro Masters Division

Yesterday, Savage Race announced a new division for their SavagePro heat, the SavagePro Masters Division. Beginning August 22nd at Savage Race Chicago, there will be a new Masters Division for SavagePRO athletes age 40+.

I AM OCR: Matt “The Bear” Novakovich

Matt "The Bear" Novakovich burst onto the OCR scene in 2013 with his legendary win over the famed Hobie Call at the Spartan Race in Wintergreen, Virginia. He was quickly recruited to join the Spartan Pro Team and has impressive sponsors such as Reebok. Race Review: Spartan Race Pennsylvania

Reebok Spartan Race headed back to Palmerton, Pennsylvania on July 11th and 12th. The event was hosted at the Blue Mountain Ski Area in Little Gap Valley, this Super/Sprint weekend was one of my favorites to date. With #effNorm as the race director, he spiced things up this year by adding a very challenging Super course on Saturday in addition to the Sprint course on Sunday.
