11079031_628098207320082_110754633421307841_nMud Run Guide partners with For Those Who Would and OCR World Championships to award the first For Those Who Would OCR Humanitarian AwardFor Those Who Would, a Richmond, Kentucky based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity rooted in the obstacle racing community launched this week as an organization supporting individuals unable to participate in athletic and physical recreational activities due to debilitating injuries or chronic diseases.

“We want to use the passion of obstacle racing and endurance athletes to make a positive and meaningful impact on the lives of those individuals who are unable to compete because of illness or injury” said Founder Jeff Cain.

“For Those Who Would also supports endurance and adventure athletes by providing a mechanism through which they can raise money for their own personal cause that matches the foundation’s mission.  We want to provide a charity that the entire OCR community can support and be proud of”.

The 2015 For Those Who Would OCR Humanitarian Award was created to honor an OCR athlete who through his/her actions off the course unselfishly makes a positive difference in the lives of others.  The award will be presented at the 2015 Obstacle Course Racing World Championships in Oregonia, Ohio on October 16th.

About the Award

Purpose
To recognize an individual(s) within the obstacle racing community who consistently exhibits humanitarian traits off the course.

Definition of a humanitarian:

• Gives of him/herself without expectation of compensation
• Embraces common moral decencies such as altruism, integrity, responsibility and compassion
• Improves the lives of others through selfless, courageous, and compassionate acts

Eligibility

To be eligible for the award, the individual(s) must be part of the international OCR community and meet one of two criteria.
1. Complete a minimum of 4 obstacle races between October 25, 2014 and October 10, 2015.
OR
2. Work within the OCR Industry (e.g., OCR course builder/director, OCR website designer, OCR writer, OCR apparel designer, OCR marketing specialist, etc…

 

Nominations for the award are currently being accepted online here at Mud Run Guide. The deadline for submitting a nomination is August 16th, 2015.
