Race Recap: Urban Jungle Obstacle and Fitness Challenge – Canada

By |August 16th, 2016|

Our weekend event was no exception with extreme humidex alerts and no cloud coverage to start the day. The race was held at the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre in Smiths Falls, Ontario. This location provided ample free parking and is centrally located with multiple access routes from Kingston and Ottawa.

Race Recap: Conquer the Gauntlet Louisville 2016

By |August 11th, 2016|

I have been looking forward to Conquer the Gauntlet since the series announced that they would be expanding to have events across the nation this year. I eagerly checked the schedule and found the venue closest to myself; looks like I’m going to Louisville, Kentucky.

Race Recap: Udder Mud Run

By |August 10th, 2016|

Udder Mud Run is a fund raiser by the FFA-FHA of Georgia at their camp in Covington. While that might make it seem like a quick, low cost throw together event, Udder Mud Run is anything but that. They have some of the most fun obstacles around. This is a family friendly event with both a 7K and a 1 mile event.

Race Recap: What is Conquer The Gauntlet?

By |August 8th, 2016|

I have heard a lot about this race company Conquer The Gauntlet (CTG) who puts on races primarily here in the Midwest where I live. Until this weekend, however, I had never actually done one of their events. I had heard about how their obstacles are brutal and how only a select few can actually finish the races with their bands (it’s a belt in CTG). I guess your question could be, “were you nervous?” I am always nervous coming into a race, or more like fired up. Nervous isn’t a good way to explain the way I feel going into a race. Am I nervous about The Cliff at World’s Toughest Mudder? No but it does give me that feeling in my stomach when I look over the edge.

Race Recap: Tough Mudder Whistler

By |August 5th, 2016|

This was mine and hub’s second year of tackling the course at Tough Mudder in Whistler, B.C. Last year we went into this mostly unprepared and paid for it by being sore for many days afterwards. The bruising last year was epic, and although I was proud of my bruises, I wanted to see if I could be better on course this year.

  • Mud Ninja Ohio

Race Recap: Mud Ninja Ohio

By |August 4th, 2016|

Mud Ninja is a little race in little itty-bitty South Salem, OH. Or so that’s how it seems when you take a look at their website which hasn’t seen a real update in years. You decide, it’ll be fun to get a small local event in and not take things so seriously for a weekend, so you register and plan for a casual weekend amongst all the machismo, competitiveness, and brutal courses in this sport.

Race Recap: Battlefrog Squamish, B.C. Canada

By |August 3rd, 2016|

I was super excited about BattleFrog Series coming to British Columbia, as it was going to be the first time it came to western Canada. If my memory serves me correctly, I had signed up for this in September / October of 2016.

  • Tough Mudder Long Island

Race Recap: Tough Mudder Long Island

By |August 3rd, 2016|

This is a great course in a remote setting ly miles from one of the largest cities in the world. Tough Mudder would be foolish to not continue its relationship with the Long Island community as the sold out event seemed to be a hit with everyone I encountered. The course challenged me and I left only failing on the King of Swingers.

  • Hesco BoneFrog Challenge

Race Recap – 2016 Hesco Bonefrog Challenge, Winnsboro, SC

By |August 2nd, 2016|

The Bonefrog Challenge made its long-awaited debut in the South this Saturday at Carolina Adventure World (CAW) in Winnsboro, SC. CAW has hosted other races on the OCR scene such as Spartan and BattleFrog for several years, and Bonefrog is a welcome addition to the area. The more OCR’s, the better!

  • Terrain Race

Race Recap: Terrain Race – Flagstaff

By |July 28th, 2016|

An eight-hour drive on a Friday afternoon through desert roads that reached 118 F. Setting up a tent in the dark. Post-race thunderstorm, and damp sleeping bags from not sealing the windows before we went out. Getting up early on Sunday morning and facing another 8h long drive home. All of these were totally worth it for the chance to run the Terrain Race in Flagstaff on Saturday.
