You do not look like those elite racers lining up on the starting line from last weekend, so what gives? It is not that something is missing, it is that you still have something…body hair.

Last Weekend in OCR – 3/12/16

This week, BattleFrog and Rugged Maniac ruled the East Coast, and an extremely wet & muddy Lone Star State played guest to thousands of dedicated Spartan Racers. World-wide, people came out in droves to challenge themselves at such amazing events like Vanderbijl South Africa’s Warrior Race, Valladolid Spain’s Farinato Race and one of the indisputable kings of pain, UK’s The Suffering. Devastating storms and historically-high flooding wrecked havoc on eastern Texas last week, causing the cancellation of Dirty Girl Mud Run in Houston and Dallas*. Despite many areas of the Spartan Race Houston venue being waterlogged, in the true Spartan spirit the race went on!

Op-Ed: BFX24 – the Experience from Far Far Away

Once upon a time, there was a group forward thinking, sadistic Frogs named David, Ryan, and Beard. These crazy dudes came up with an idea that they should invite tadpoles to come to Miami, FL, and run around all night and play for an entire day. They would call this gallivanting BFX24! Who knew that there would be 120 takers for this brand new HooYah Hell Day! I, however, would not be one of these lucky Froggers. While 24-hour obstacle races are not new to me (I have logged 188 miles at such events) I would find that completely “sitting this one out” was not an option for me.

How Well Do You Read That Race Waiver?

For years, obstacle course racers and mud runners have longingly joked about the fact that each waiver is essentially a Death Waiver, stating you could get hurt, injured or even die while participating in these events. I love OCR. Many others do. Venues love OCR, it gets them clientele and revenue on spaces. Miami Loves OCR. They even made a BattleFrog proclamation. You know who seems to hate OCR, Weather. In particular, I mean, Texas Weather. We don’t get much rain, but when we do, it seems to mean business. We’ve had record flooding for the past year, and it seems that OCR is a catalyst.
