However, not everyone in your family wants to hear details about all your calluses that were torn off on your last set of monkey bars or how many burpees you did last night while watching a playlist of OCR Warrior.
Spartan Race Agoge 001 took place over the weekend in Pittsfield, Vermont. The 48-hour extreme endurance event is put on by Spartan Race and part of the Training Trifecta for the Spartan Delta for 2016. The event is part endurance challenge and part educational workshop in survival skills. The winter edition of the race this year focused on two of the SpartanX Pillars of "Finding Your True North" and "Commitment".
The 2016 Winter Spartan Race Agoge 001 is complete. Of the thirty-three participants that began the challenge twenty-eight finished. Agoge is an extreme endurance challenge focused on conquering real world survival skills while focusing on several of the SpartanX pillars. This edition of the event focused on True North and Commitment among participants.
The Agoge 001 past of the Spartan Race Endurance series is currently taking place in and around Pittsfield, Vermont. Over thirty participants from around the world have gathered to test themselves physically and mentally. Agoge lasts over 48-hours and not only tests participants but teaches them the skills they need to succeed as the program progresses.
What could be more fun than running an obstacle race on a beautiful Saturday morning in Southern California, with snow on the nearby mountains, and warm Santa Ana winds blowing? How about bypassing the finish line, and going around and around on the course to see how many laps you can put on in a day?
Agoge 001 is currently underway in Pittsfield, Vermont. Spartan Agoge is the newest event in the Spartan Race Endurance lineup for the company. The event has drawn over thirty athletes from around the world to try and complete this 48-hour challenge. We spoke exclusively with Tony Matesi, Spartan Director of Endurance about the event and what participants have currently completed since the event kicked off this morning.
We live in an era of instant gratification, last minute planning, big hopes and even bigger challenges. There are so many exciting and inspiring events out there to choose from that the addicted among us quickly find ourselves doing events weekend after weekend without breaks and a plan.
On February 6, 2016 the annual Sean O'Brien 100K took place in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains on a warm Southern California day. A group of tough, gritty women were all vying for the coveted 'Golden Ticket' for the top two finishers to gain automatically entry into the most prestigious 100-mile race in the country, the Western States 100. Included in that group were speedsters Devon Yanko, obstacle course champion Amelia Boone and ultra veteran Kerrie Wlad, among others.
The venue is located on beautiful wooded acreage and provided racers with an absolutely gorgeous multi-elevation terrain that looped in and out of ravines and gullies. It was called the Abominable Course and they offer three seasons to participate in this race –spring, summer and winter. Their slogan: “Unleash your inner Yeti!”
