Badass Women of OCR: Charity Fick

By |August 16th, 2017|

I have wanted to sit down and write something for a while about why I started the Badass Women of OCR series. I often find it is hard to write about myself, as where do I start?

Badass Women of OCR – Ami Sawran

By |August 9th, 2017|

I always get excited at the opportunity to learn about new people within the OCR community. I first heard about Ami Sawran on the Dirt in Your Skirt Podcast. She is quite the interesting lady – she is well-known on air personality for the popular Mudstacle – Obstacle Racing Website, and a vet by trade.

Badass Women of OCR: Cassidy Watton

By |August 2nd, 2017|

Cassidy Watton to me in her own right embodies the term “Badass Woman of OCR”. She is all about training hard, playing hard and not taking herself too seriously in life. Cassidy has quite the impressive OCR race resume, including a number of podium placements, and she is currently the season 3 and 4 defending champion of the Steve Austin Broken Skull Challenge.

Badass Women of OCR: Krista Markham

By |July 26th, 2017|

Krista Markham was nominated for my article series by friends of hers.  From what I understand she is the epitome of “Never Stop”, “Never Give up”. Having been diagnosed at a young age with severe asthma, she was limited in the activities she could do, but that didn’t stop her from trying. I find this inspiring, as many people see a health diagnosis as a stopping point in life, and fall into deep depressions.

Badass Women of OCR: Faith Elliott

By |July 21st, 2017|

Speaking of amazing, meet Faith, a former competitive cheerleader. After her first race in 2015, she knew at the finish line that OCR would fill the gap that cheerleading has left behind. Since then, she has been training hard, and learning all about the importance of training hard and resting harder. I wanted to feature her, to show women that Bad Ass Women that come into our sport can come from all different back grounds.

Badass Women of OCR: Heather Gollnick

By |July 19th, 2017|

Heather Gollnick was brought to my attention directly by a few people. Not only is she a mother, but she has a pretty impressive history – she is a coach, a Triathalon trainer, a personal trainer, a published author, a motivational speaker and someone who truly embraces the healthy lifestyle that most of us work so hard to achieve on a daily basis.

Badass Women of OCR: Kate Sidoli

By |July 12th, 2017|

Kate was brought to my attention for this article series by a friend of hers. He noted to me in his initial email that she was a “cut above the rest”. I was intrigued and looked into Kate a bit before asking her to be profiled for my Badass Women of OCR article series. From the information I garnered from her friend and from Kate directly, I felt that she was a good fit for this series due to her strength, determination, and humility when it comes to being in OCR.

Badass Women of OCR: Sara Knight

By |July 5th, 2017|

It makes me super happy to get to know the strong, powerful and passionate women in the sport of OCR. Sara Knight is no exception. I have been following her fitness and OCR journey for a while now (behind the scenes). To me, Sara has emanated the words “Badass Woman” for a long time.

Badass Women of OCR: Warrior Dash Race Directors

By |June 28th, 2017|

This time around I got to do an interview with the three race directors from the Warrior Dash race series. Molly Chernick, Megan Gaseor, and Rebecca Ryan were gracious enough to take time out of their busy schedules to go through the interview process with me.  Putting this article together for me was a challenge, [...]

Badass Women of OCR: Amanda Fex and the Ladies of River City Fitness

By |June 21st, 2017|

Primarily, this article series was focusing on the individual efforts of the Badass Women in OCR, but when Amanda’s name was brought up to me as a nomination, I was excited. As I learned more about her and the group from River City fitness, the words that came to my mind were: motivation, teamwork, community, family, and strength.
