uring a difficult trail race, you sign up to be pushed past your comfort zone. In certain types of races, you can expect to be told to do new activities and translate your skills towards new challenges. With that challenge comes responsibility and risk. It’s both up to the race and the racer to figure out what’s the appropriate amount of risk, and how to minimize that.
This could finally be Lindsay’s year, make no mistake. Barring another episode of barbed-wire hair-gate or some other unforeseeable calamity, the Canadian badass with the perma-smile will likely be standing atop the ladies’ podium when the dust (snow?) settles.
For the past three years I have been trying to get to a Rugged Maniac and finally, this year, I was able to make that a reality. The race was held at the Chicopee Ski Resort in Kitchener, Ontario. This resort is steeped in history dating back to 1805. With multiple ski runs available, it provided racers with a variety of elevations that were well marked and evenly cleared.
The day started out cold and raining so prior to the start of wave one most racers and spectator's where huddled up either in a building with heat or under something trying to stay dry. You could see from the racers and spectators faces people were both tired and cold. With about five minutes to go time, the MC/announcer started getting racers pumped up and motivated and it was like someone flipped a light switch and the racers and spectators all started to get fired up and motivated.
On October 10th, 2015, The Dead End Race will present a brand new event like none other... The Dead End Race Stadium Edition at the TD Place in Ottawa! For the first time in Canada, obstacle racers will be able to participate in a race that takes place 100% in a stadium. 25 obstacles will be positioned throughout the stadium, directly on the turf and in the upper levels.
Marketing Director Brian Townsend for the Canadian based obstacle races Dead End Race and Super Splash 5K Race announced recently that both events will be featuring OCR OBSTACLE CAMS a new service free of charge to all participants.
